complience plate question


hey was getting my baja done by auto elect and he thinks my baja isnt a 62,,,some 62 parts dont fit,, dont know if the comp plate is even for this car,, plate says

VOLKSWAGEN (AUSTRALIA) PTYLTD
type 114 chassis 2994027
weight lbs 2447 maxfront axel lbs 992
max rear axel lbs 1455

doesnt say anything about year either,, thers no vin stamped under the seat either,,when i took off the comp plate theres extra holes under it, so thought another plate might off been there.....anyone have any ideas of this plate,,,,,,,,,,,,,cheers colleen:

should (sorry MUST) be a # stamped uner the rear seat near the gear box coupling inspection/access plate

the car sounds like a 58 or 59

That number was built in 1960.

Some sites with chassis numbers listed for each year:

Note: that means you have a 1960 body, but the chassis (pan) could be from a different year. That's why you also need to check the number on top of the tunnel under the rear seat.

just got my baja home and marc checked for the stamp under the seat,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,none there,, it looks like it has been maybe removed,,, theres smooth metal under the plate under the back seat,,,,,, cant find a vin any where....colleen
