I would have thought 1000hp would make it a bit of a hand-grenade.
However, it's quite reasonable to get the weight of a buggy down under 600kg. I've heard as low as 500kg is possible. You'd need to be really
sparing with your use of metal and you'd be looking at using mostly composites and aluminium, but it's possible. There wouldn't be much VW pan left
over that's all. That might casue you issues with rego if you want it.
BTW, I know quaife specially makes a chain drive LSD for this sort of thing.

I have been thinking about it for sometime, and I think I have all the issues sorted out. It will require fairly heavy modification of whatever it
goes into, but I know how I would do it.

Go for it, we used to put the 350 ypvs yamaha engines into sand rails in the uk... worked very well, we were planing to use a 900 blade engine in
one(wrote mine off so had an engine sitting) but never got it finished before i moved here. How you would get round the main road inspections here
i wouldnt know, the uk is much easier to deal with..
a busa in a buggy= one bloody fast and very amuzing car
i will watch this one with great intrest.

I think it was on 5th gear or top gear ( the uk car show) they were testing the latest westfeild clubman. It was less than 500kgs and had a hyabussa
motor in it. I think it was the 4th or 5th fastest around the track. only beaten by some serious cars such as porsche GT,merc/maclaren etc.
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!

just contacted zcars the results are not in yet on the ultima twin hayabussa engined monster although they suspect another word record (thier tiger z
100 wr 0-60in 2.8 sec oh thats MILES /HOUR) it seems the ultima they built is lighter n more powerfull than ulitmas own car which holds 0-100-0 in
10.3 which is a clear second faster than mclarens f1 road car!!!!:o
now i want one in the front n one in the back
thanks for the heads up on the quaife pete but having built a few off road buggies in my time im simply going to mount the engine transversly and
direct drive off the sprocket to the diff (irs locked of course) retaining the 6 speed sequential g box electric reverse??? |

Theres a mad bloke in country Victoria (from memory) thats been building turboed Hayabusa's for a while now! I think i read the article in a bike mag
about 2 years ago and he had some ridiculously fast bikes and bigger plans on the go! Contact the major bike mags here in Australia and one of them
will point you in the right direction for sure!!!

There are two PRB Clubman cars registered in NSW with Hyabusa engines. Bike engines do not undergo the same ADR testing as car engines so I don't
think you can build a new car with one (re-engining an old car could be totally different). A Couple of years ago NSW would accept some form of
emissions test as proof of compliance and the two guys (brothers?) built the PRB's and had them registered. Very nice cars, no expense spared to
build. You use a separate reversing gearbox in line between the gearbox and diff (quaife etc). Check out the ozclubbies.com forum for more info on
the PRB's.

mate if you do the same distance travel on a moto as you do on your car you will definately need rebuilds every year or so, eg. ZYF-R1 / R6's are
usualy rebiult after 40,000 km
PLUS there are turbo busaz but they produce to a maximum 599hp (type ghostrider in google and have look at bike),
so either way \like the guy above me said, you then need a tranny and if ya havent realised, BIKES ARE CHAIN FED to the rear sprocket! which means no
flywheel!!! you do the math!

The last R6 I rode had 45,000km on the clock and was in no need of a rebuild.
Bike engines do have flywheels, they are on the crankshaft like every other motor. The chain drive is no issue. Reverse is a minor issue but easily
solved.
The way they do the drives in the clubmans and westfields is inefficient. You could do a better set-up in a rear engined car.
A lot of people talk about bike engines having no torque and not being able to move a car. Unfortunately those people don't know what they are
talking about. A 1300cc haybusa engine has more torque and power everywhere in the rev range compared to a VW 1300cc engine.

I had 120, 000km on my Kwaka GPz 9 and it was still going very strong.
The main thing is to do an oil change every 5,000km.
In the episode of 5th gear I saw the car was powered by two Kwaka 1000's and the guy actually blew one of the motors trying to break his 0-60mile
time.nn[ Edited on 13-9-2005 by Jenny ]

Ummmmm.. well yer, we realise that, perhaps you need to have a look at an Aussie Racing car, one of those goofy looking overgrown go-karts rocketships
with mini V8 supercar or old yank Coupe rod kinda bodywork.
They are powered by a Yamaha FJ1200. They simply use a splined adapter/flange that fixes on in place of the sprocket and a everyday driveshaft back to
an everyday diff is attached to it.
No brainer, and yes, the engine is sitting lengthwise in the chassis.

There are turbo kits in the uk that you can buy for these engines that take them straight to 450hp plus and i have heard of supercharger set ups
You only need two tools
Wd40 if it don't move and it should
Duct tape if it move's and it shouldn't
