What have you done recently to your Buggy / Baja?
What have you done with your car recently?
Me, I've just given it a good servicing, changed the oil and greased everything.

well. after the lh wheel cyl bolt shot through and in the 5km drive off the beach to the safety of gravel and the rescue vehicle i had the wheel cyl
get sucked into the drum taking everything out and munching everything up incl the backing plate
i got some bits from a freinds stash and bought a new wheel cyl and have it ready to go back togather.
trouble is in the mean time i finished a suspension upgrade on the dirtbike and have gone out on it and stuffed my back. its really sore so putting
the buggy back togather will have to wiat for a few more days.
anyone wanna buy some slighlty used brake bits??? haha
ready to fit.

After rebuilding the engine some weeks back all I've been doing recently is rebuilding my faith in my rebuilding of engines!! I'm almost back to
normal now (whatever 'normal' is?) so I've been giving it a bloody good thrashing back and forwards to work and next weekend over to Teewah for a
few days......I don't know if this is normal (there's that word again) but whenever I'm on the beach I always seem to get this voice in my head, it
sounds to me a bit like David Attenborough and he's saying " Here we have a beach buggy in its natural habitat". Please, if this isn't normal
don't tell me!?:P

I finished shortening my handbrake lever to compensate for the relocated gearshift. Not much in the whole scheme of things, but its one step closer

Wow, those rotary sumps really are low. Although your skid plate is in the way, it looks like your sump is still pretty low, have you tried shortening
it? My standard V6 sump is about the same level as the underside of the car and everything else, does your sump sit lower than the gearbox rear
cradle?
Is the front of the skid plate bent up, so it doesn't scoop sand? I have mine bent up at the front so it tucks in behind the transmission cradle.
Then it doesn't scoop anything. :thumb
That thing must attract some police attention.

i jacked the bastard up and put stands under the rear end to play about...
tried to un-sieze my motor to no avail so then tried to inflate my flat rear wheel so i could try rilling it in gear to get it turnin but with a flat
wheel no go!!
i moved onto my next challenge instead and i pulled off the little oval plate on the front of the beam to gain access to the inside of the tunnel and
found (as i had suspected) that my buggy doesnt have a fuel pipe running through the tunnel but regular unsheathed fuel hose... arrrghh... i will be
putting in a lengh of PVC tube with new hose running through it to provide some protection of sorts from the bashing about it can take and the things
it can hook on...
ahh thats about it.... extreme as always... beer got in the way haha....
everything dies baby, thats a fact..
maybe everything that dies one day comes back..
put your make up on and your hair up pretty..
and meet me tonight in Atlantic city..

Wes,
The skidplate bends up at the front around 75mm but I think sand just flies up in there and has nowhere to go.
The sump hangs down around 100mm lower than the cradle bolts (on the ends of the forks) and I think I allowed the skidplate a 30mm gap below that just
incase the skidplate cops a big hit.
Heres a pic without the plate taken from a similar angle to yours.

P.S. Nice Baja. When are you coming down to Stockton to give us a demo?

I was watching my home video footage of my last trip down there. It was fun and I really want to take the Baja down again. The only problem is finding
time. I'd like to take time off work next time I head down there, and it doesn't look like I'm gunna get time off work in the near future...
Maybe next year....
