Door mirror mounting

Having a discussion with some SBO chaps and i "thought" ALL post 67-68 VW's came with a threaded hole for mounting door mirrors on BOTH doors. Just covered - ie like pop out holes. You just have to find the hole under the skin and cut the outer hole.

Any one able to shed some light on this???

Barry

I thought the other hole was there but plugged with a blank. But I'm no mirror guru.

The 71 we had back in the 80's had the plug as we put the stock mirror on it.

My 71 Super (NZ) doesn't have it, cause while the door was apart I went looking for it, as I had hoped to use it.
