anyone got an irs pan for a karmann

if you do go for IRS keep your original pan as these are wider than beetle. keeping those numbers is really important too.
Have you tried karmannghiaseller on the forum for the pan.

pans not the same
If you dont know yet you will find the front of the pans are totally diff shape from beetle to ghia
you cant use beetle if you get desperate iether
crazy george has 70s models pan wont fit under 61
you have to chop up rear of body mounts but you can try
to buy his but they go with his ghia vert

The solution is relatively simple if you can weld. Mine has this done.
What you do is you buy the IRS mounts from say http://www.cip1.com and then weld them into
the chassis. There is a but of cutting involved. Plenty of technical website show this procedure
You then source and attach the trailing arms and source an IRS gearbox.
And the best part is you get to keep the frame horns for even more strength in the rear.
You are then IRS'd.
Feel free to come check mine out one weekend if you are in NSW.
