thanx Paul........

A BIG DAY!.......too tired to fill in the story, just pics for tonight

subaru factory up pipe with heat shielding removed.

welding where we cut and shut to remove cat is ok......but burnt a small hole in the flexi joint when we welded the heat shield back on :mad. Jeff has braised it as best as possible, the thing is so thin there, it was the only option

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c365/dumone/P1060082Medium.jpg

all rugged up

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c365/dumone/P1060083Medium.jpg

GRIMMSPEED gaskets are goooood.......heaps thicker, stainless steel.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c365/dumone/P1060086Medium.jpg

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c365/dumone/P1060084Medium.jpg

strapped up okay

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c365/dumone/P1060089Medium.jpg

dump pipe is simple but effective.......and big!

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c365/dumone/P1060087Medium.jpg

turbo h2o return was moved........heaps better.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c365/dumone/P1060091Medium.jpg

used to run back to here........

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c365/dumone/P1060092Medium.jpg

factory air intake was cracked at turbo end.........unlean air sucked in at a massive rate= YUCK!

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c365/dumone/P1060097Medium.jpg

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c365/dumone/P1060096Medium.jpg

wasn't easy to do but factory one came out and silicon back in with out removing intake or turbo

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c365/dumone/P1060094Medium.jpg

H2o return finished up sweet and BOV recirculate line about 3 ft shorter ..........BOV is stuffed found seat from it in line, heat damage has us suspecting it had been leaking for a while

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c365/dumone/P1060093Medium.jpg

You need a better Dump design, there's virtually nowhere for the gas to flow to !!

dump on the exhaust Craig?..........looks like the dodgy style where the wastegate just flows onto a square plate in that photo. it doesn't tho, its actually quite flowing..........

yeah looking at turbo smart BOV upgrade , but would still run recirculating style.

the ideal would be for the wastegate dump to vent externally, or at least run parallel to the main pipe and blend in further away from the flange/turbo housing. This will stop the gasses "crashing".

yeah but at the flange, the wastegate doesn't have a seprate port to the main gasses............. it's one big phat hoooole already.

but yeah we are only ever one big ripple strip off a exhaust redesign

I agree, that is very restrictive. Mine is similar to this pic but much shorter cause of the confined space. Michael South did mine. Exactly what Craig said, u need a splitter to stop the main exhast & the wastegate crashing into each other. I'm surprised u don't have a nice big 3 inch system?
How much power does your engine make? & what boost does it run? I've never read anywhere the specs on this car.

yeah okay Jak, i was thinking it would have to "intrude" into the turbo housing like that..........i appreciate your input as i'm not fully up to speed on all this subie "go faster" stuff just yet

specs....

02 crate motor
260Hp @wheels.......however this was with very dodgy liberty turbo to intercooler pipe, standard air intake pipe and oily "finer filter",standard plugs and up pipe with catalytic converter in it......which have all sice been updated......wether that has made a HP difference i don't know, but early boost and tourque is up for sure.

20 PSI boost controled by HALTECH E11
VF 30 turbo
liberty H2O/air intercooler
TGV delete and matched intake manifold
huge top entry injectors with 044 bosch main and carter lift pump malpassi rising rate reg

commodore front radiator and VW golf intercooler rad

looking forward to good crossover and up pipes as well as port, polish and match the cast ends soon for another 20 or so HP?.......different cams sit in a box somewhere too

anyways, new stainless pipe went on, it's not the best design internally at the flexi joint but i expect as good as the factory at least for flow anyways...not bad for $99 and most importantly a quick delivery

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c365/dumone/P1060100Medium.jpg

this stuff makes me itchy just looking at it now....mmm fiberglass wrap

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c365/dumone/P1060101Medium.jpg

lucky for those nice thicks gaskets this time around......just matched up

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c365/dumone/P1060110Medium.jpg

new bov on and running again

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c365/dumone/P1060114Medium.jpg

then instead of fitting up the practice slicks,as well as the second seat and getting it back on the trailer for a test tomorrow (partly due to some f%$Ks breaking into cars outside at night)...........got a little distracted by this..........

260HP @ the wheels!!! holy dooly. makes my 204 look lamo:lol:

I didn't get anymore HP with my ported headers & bigger crossover pipe, it just bought boost on earlier & a much smoother transition from off to on boost.

It's amazing that u run run 20psi with the standard Liberty intercooler. On the Liberty forums they reckon they don't bother with anymore than 16psi as it just wasn't designed from the factory for anymore. Have u modified it?
Maybe with one of those big PWR jobbies your engine would go nuts?

Can't wait to see your car run next weekend.

Saying that they can't do something with the factory equipment isn't pissin in their own pocket, If they said they can run 30psi on the factory WAIC & Damo can only run 20psi, then that is "pissin in your own pocket". I have actually found the RS Liberty guys & the WRX guys to be informative & more than willing to share their experiences, wether they be good or bad. I think because their starting point is a performance car, that they are less prone to the mentality of "Mine is better then yours"
u only have to look through the dyno sheet section on Rexnet for evidence of that. They put up dyno sheets for every modification under the sun.
I think it's great. If something goes wrong they are more than forethcoming with that info as well.

I too did not make a massive amount of HP when I changed the dump pipe and uptake pipe on my Liberty rally car. I did how ever move the point in RPM where my boost came on and where max HP significant lower in the rev range. Basically boost at idle and max boost around 4500 (although I did run a Motec ECU). Prodrive/subaru performanve heads actually are better unported and un polished. Subaru did a great job from the factory
