What size clutch should I use?
I'm currently installing a EJ20T into a 71 bay van. It has a 091 box with a 002 belhousing. I will be running a 200mm clutch and the engine will be
stock boost.
What clutch do you reckon I should buy? I'm thinking between a Kennedy 1700 or 2100 lb with a better than standard plate.
Constructive advice welcomed.

Brendan - I'd talk with Steve Carter (has the yellow super bug which had turbo wasserboxer in it) and Wes about this - they both have a heap of
experience, and I know that Wes has destroyed at least one clutch plate in his V6 baja . Plus I'm sure they'll both give you sensible advice.

215mm kombi clutch for an 1800. Make sure it's german Sachs kit, Wes killed a crappy Non-german one. I had no issues with my German one apart from
filling it up with sand, and even that didn't destroy it or make it slip much. If you have issues you go to a heavier pressure plate. CBB have them I
hear, Indian Automotive have them made up.

I don't want a made up clutch. I was thinking of a Kennedy 1700 or 2100 pound pressure plate, not sure which one though.

I would use the 2100lb option, I use a 1050kg(about 2225lb) and the pedal isn't too hard to push on and it hooks up nicely, so the 2100lb unit should
be even easier.
Being a Kombi box it should have the longer clutch lever as well.
Cheers Paul

Make sure you get a good SACHS throwout bearing, too -the cheapo Brazil one that came with the Subie adapter kit we used lasted less than 200km. Boy
was I pissed off.. the good one cost me $20, so whoever specified the Brazil one probably saved himself $6 and cost me a weekend

I deleted one of my double posts and it deleted both. how bizzare. This post was above VWCOOL's above;
Quote: | I'm running a 228mm
SACHS kombi clutch plate. It's true I did destroy one, but I think it was because it was a no brand cheapy unit. It died from exploding (didn't like
8000rpm) not from slipping.
I have a weird set-up where I actually use the standard mazda pressure plate that came with the engine. It made sense to me, it was designed for the
HP of the engine.

Sounds like a Kennedy 2100 lb pressure with a heavier than standard sachs clutch plate and throwout bearing.
Now I just need to shop around.
