What do you see on the road?

I just got back from Cresent Head (About 450 klms N of Sydney) and a weeks holiday , On the way home I counted Aircooled Vws This was the Tally 17 Bay window Kombies, 1 split ,nearly all of them had the air intake scoop modification, about half were campers, 2 bugs and one really nice early Type 3 , wagon, not a bad count for kombies really I was supprised, I though that I might have seen more beetles but perhaps as mostly this is divided road I was not passing as many as Kombies are slower. What do you see?

Dubbo's not know for it's VW population

regardless there are a few here. I'm surprised at the number of Audis and New Volkswagen models. They seem to be prefered by landowners wives I think.

I have seen a couple of kombis, all BW so far and five beetles. No Type 3's. One of the kombis was white and the type with the extended roof up another 14 inches higher and a fibreglass thingy on the front where you would expect most to put a spare tyre.

This and another twin cab white one with flashes of lime green along the side boards - Definately a show stopper but it didn't stop for me. I need a 1600 as I can never seem to catch any of them to say hi.

A good mix of Kombis and beetles , not too much of the type 3 's
around here. Quite a lot of the New Polo's , Golfs , New Beetles , etc around Sydney.

When I was driving up to steve's work in Port Macquarie to pick up the tools on Friday arvo, This white '73 Kombi Camper come up from behind, not unusual you say?, I was sitting on 120Ks, and he cruised right by. It slowed on the hills so I was able to catch him and pass again, then on the down hill it would cruise by again. This happened a few times until it turned off to Taree. Was good to see a good healthy Kombi zooming along.:thumb
