Adapting late gearboxes to early chassis

I have late-model SSP gearbox (three bolts on the nosecone and the 'full-circle' front mount). I wish to run it in my '68 IRS pan without cutting metal or swapping nosecones. Is there an 'adapter' or 'hybrid' front mount I can buy? Or will I have to make my own? Any hints from anyone?

I got a solid steel mount from Pete Richards for mine.

3 holes for the GB, 4 holes to the chassis.

Is that the same in your case Glen?

Just change the nose cone to the 1500 type, it bolts over

Menangler: Yep - but I'm not going to crack open this perfect gearbox that I have!!

Astro: There are two bolts that are mounted upright, rather than horizontal...

I'm not keen on solid mounts so I might get one made, if there isn't already a 'berg' or some other mount already for sale somewhere

Well that is going to make it hard for you, It is the only way I know of fitting it, will take you 10 minutes and it will fit how it should.

If I had a no-mileage early nosecone sitting here, I'd probably do that. But... looks like a good chance to design a new hybrid nose mount and get Noltec to manufacture it
