FS 67 Type 3 Fastback
I am looking for interest in my 1967 type 3 fastback.
The car is roadworthy, registered and rust free
The engine is a 1600 twin carb
The car includes:
New (couple of months old) set of empi 8's
All new 195x50 hankook tyres
Recently put in second hand gearbox
New Grant GT steering wheel
Very good condition red trim with no rips
The car has been rewired
It has new door seals
Breaks have recently been done
New battery
CD player
The car also has a US trigger shifter and has been lowered, but tastfully so
The car has had over $6500 worth of work done to get the RWC about 6months ago as well as getting her looking the way I like. With the work done by
both Volkscourt and Volkspower.
I bought the car from a guy on the forum based mainly on the fact that it was pretty much rust free (rust is always my fear with old cars).
The body was rust free with the exception of a section behind the right rear wheel, which I have since had repaired. The body is genuine.
After purchasing the car, the nightmare started, as i pored over $6500 into getting the car roadworthy and on the road. Things needed doing included
the breaks, replace the gear box, shocks, seals, indicator switch, wiring and much much more ( I have lots of the receipts and invoices)
I have been using the car as my weekender and occasional daily to work now for about 6 months with no worries.
I am also just about to venture into buying my first house with my wife, and two cars for just me is a little selfish, so I think the fasty may have
to go.
The colour is mat black to give her that certain look that I am sure someone wants.
I dont expect to make my money back, we never do but I am asking what I think is a very reasonable and firm $7000.
I have not listed my number as I am busy and really dont have time for TKers but if u are genuinely interested give me a U2U and I will get back to
u.
I am in Melbourne
Cheers
Pat

Hey Pat, sorry to see you're selling the old girl.
Guys, I can honestly vouch for this car. The description of the car is 100%, and didn't mention the fact that the engine is a very sweet runner,
starting first time every time with all the vital signs in perfect order. The gearbox, while second hand also shifts beautifully and was hand selected
as the best one from the collection at Volkspower, and the price paid reflected this.
I can empathise with the amount of work done to the car to get the RWC...even the pettiest of things was rectified, all at great cost.
And anyone who thinks they can buy a better car cheaply and get it on the road for less, I would think again. Having had all the bugs ironed out, this
car is as honest as they come. And I have to say, apart from the 68 squareback I used to own, would have to be the sweetest looking Type 3 going
around. The buyer is going to be very happy with the purchase.
Good luck with the sale bud.....and I wan't 5% sale commision! :beer

Trust me mate..it's not hard. The little things all add up. It's false economy to buy a car without a roadworthy unless you're able to undertake
everything yourself. Pat was very fastidious with what was fixed and replaced (as was the roadworthy assessor) so the car is really in good nick and
well worth the money.

things done:
new empi 8's ($880)
new tyres ($380)
Steering wheel ($280)
Gearbox ($750)
Replaced front windscreen ($185)
replace seat belts
replace front suspension rubbers ($70)
buy and fit door seals ($70)
supply and install windscreen washer ($75)
install horn and button
wiper arms and blades
Shock absorbers rear and front ($260)
install and supply indicator switch ($145)
spark plugs ($20)
condensor ($31)
seat belts replaced ($150)
heater cable ($15)
points
distributor cap ($17.50)
front suspension rubbers
replace heater cable and tubes ($35)
spring plate rubber ($44)
break hose front ($70)
break hose rear ($80)
rear flange ($35)
rear drums ($70)
front disc ($25)
Front and rear wheel bearing ($70)
ignition switch and remount ($20)
replace outer torsion bar rubbers
adjust breaks
replace engine mounts
battery ($80)
aerial ($10)
cd player
front windscreen rubber ($15)
rewiring of entire car ended up costing probably $2000 as everything needed doing from front and rear lights and blinkers, to the instrumentation and
tidy up. A good mate tried to help out with the wiring but to get the RWC most of it was redone as everything was picked up.
not to mention towing, and the actual RWC and registration which added up to just on $1000
I think that should cover it for u MR VWCOOL
Probably missed stuff
Pat

Its a good solid car that was off the road for 21 years dry stored in a garage out in country victoria, its also an August 65 built fasty which makes
it a very early fasty , first year of production.
good luck with the sale.

Great solid car, most certainly the best Type III I've ever had and I would love to buy her back. Would you consider trading it for my 1978 E21 320
manual? One other question Pat, what did you do with the BBS Mahles that where on it? |

Sorry sash no swaps, its my dream car (love the early fastys) so if i had to part with it it wouldn't be to get anything else.
I may end up keeping it as my home loan was approved last week, but then there are house reno's
still got the BBS's, slowly restoring them as a minor project.
