Oil Leak from crankshaft Pulley
My beetle has an oil leak from the crankshaft pulley. It sprays oil all over the engine bay. I've been told that there is no seal on the end of the
crank.
How do i stop the leak?

caused by too much crank case pressure. There isnt really a seal there. There is an oil slinger. That doesnt matter.
The problem could be caused by a simple blockage in the breather from the oil filler to the air cleaner or some one has but an aftermarket oil fill on
there and blocked the breather up to a rooted motor with too much blow by that needs new piston rings and a good hone as a minimum
What sort of motor is it and has it aonly just started???

yeah there is no seal there on Type1 motors, the pulley has this threaded groove on the hub which pushes the oil back in. Yeah like barry said, it
may be caused by excessive crankcase pressure, is your crankcase breather system properly setup?

Thanks for the replies. The breather pipe looks like it has been on there for a long time. I will change it today and see if it helps. Checked the oil
level. Seems fine.
the motor is a 1300 and it has done it since I got it but I've only had the car a month. I'm working my way through the things that need fixing to
keep it going and then we will build a new motor for it at christmas.
