Custom side air scoops re design

I made and fitted these fibreglass side scoops to feed the intercooler with cool air but now i am wanting to change them to some thing that looks a little more streamline and smooth. Also next time i shall be making these out of metal and getting them welded in as the fibreglass one started to crack where they joined to the body. Been looking around for som ideas off other cars but all i seem to find are scoops from mustangs. if any one got any ideas or pics that would be great. I have also attached a pic of the scoops currently fitted.

Hi

They look trick.

I reckon you could make some similar to the ones you made out of steel tubing, just sliced at the right angle and then welded in.

a cut like a ferrarri or lamboghini, so you have a larger vent opening, may look odd on a bug tho im not sure, or steves idea sounds good, so long as you get the angle of the cut just right.

I have been playing with the idea for a long time now. The one I am making as a mould at present is like the 996 turbo side intake...the boxter style would be easier although not as sleek.
The low intake like in the new herbie movie will not get very good air flow due to the shape of the front gaurd.
The other option is the same as the uniroyal funcup racers which have the naca style duct in the top of the rear gaurd. We are thinking of something like this for the cold air box as it is a bit far back for my intercooler.
Finally someone else has been pondering this option.NICE!

Thanks for all your ideas. When i had the car going these worked very well keeping the inlet temps. around 38 degrees. Just wanting the scoops to look a bit more streamline to the car. So keep any more ideas coming as i have to make a descison in the next few weeks as it is at the panel beaters at the moment who is going to be doing the work.
