52' Split Bug

On behalf of owner:

52' split bug deluxe, crotch cooler model, original blue.

Body fully restored, no expense spared, original guards, doors, decklid & bonnet.
Floor pan has original pan halves & is perfect (restored (ie - painted)

Includes 95% of the original parts, ribbed bumpers, over riders, glove box lids, speedo, clock, tons of NOS parts included, mostly imported from Germany. 16" wheels, nos tail lights, ribbed semaphores etc etc etc......

several motors included (one is we believe a 51' model, the other a 54'. Gearbox, front beam.

The front beam is a 54' not original (should be short shock) - the rear has the original lever action versions.

This car also has a NOS owners manual (about $400usd), it has the original delivery invoice, and all paperwork up until the day I imported it into Australia. On top of that, there are many colour photographs (50mm color slides) taken by the the original owners on the day the car was delivered new. These show the vehicle in all its glory.

To finish this vehicle you would have to:

Rebuild the engine, transmission (seems low mile & good), front beam (maybe souce a short shock version)

Upholster the car

Assemble the car

This is a rare opportunity - the vehicle is stored in Brisbane - is now a rolling shell.

Owner is asking for a good offer around 20k (it owes him much more than that).

Serious enquires to me (prefer via email)

Guy - 07 3392 2980 - guy@hp.net.au

Would this be suitable for a Baja conversion?

Settle down, I'm just joking.

This would be a fantastic car to finish. My heart is screaming yes but my head is screaming no.

Are all the parts there? It would get expensive really fast if they're not. Regular shopping in thesamba classifieds would not be kind on the hip pocket. I'm missing a few bits for my '54 and thesamba scares me.

I can wait to see pictures of the split.

Thanks for posting it on the forum Guy. Hopefully it stays locally.

pics emailed - thanks

As far as we know, the only missing parts on the whole car is the exterior aluminium trim. There is even NOS tail lights that cost about $900 a piece. Bits have been sourced forthis car over 10 years (you should have seen my last Bad Camberg bill!)
