The perfect exhaust?
I wonder if the perfect bug exhaust exists? I've seen many that have some of the following characteristics, have you seen one with ALL of the
following?
- better flow than stock
- heater boxes for cabin heat
- attachments for stock manifold heat risers (one end high pressure, the other end low pressure)
- stock look from behind (i.e. twin tubes poking out where the spaces in the apron are)
- good ground clearance (important if your bug is lowered)

yeah im building one now that has all but the heat risers cause the motor will be twin carb

If you wanted to do it with the risers, could you? One side high pressure and the other side low pressure to ensure flow through the manifold?

i should mention that i went t4 to get it but i cant see why you cant have all those things on a after market system. its been a while since i looked
at one thats not fitted but some of the systems come with heat risers. im fairly sure the ones from rapid exhaust( http://www.rapidexhaust.com.au ) come with heat risers. i tried looking at the one
on what im driving but everything is in the way but it does have heat risers i can see them in the engine bay it just needs the muffler moved for
ground clearance. if you use a tuck away muffler about 1 5/8 to 1 7/8 mounted parallel to the guard you have you ground clearance plus it doesnt
interfere with the tappet covers. if you speak to rapid about a set of extractors that they have designed to be run with heater boxes.it comes with a
t bird flange at the end and its not hard to fit a muffler to suit. ok i was going to put up a pic but ive got to find it in my bag of tricks so ill
get back to you

I used to have a 1 5/8th bugpack competition merged header that was very nicely made with slip fit joins. The thing is that most merged headers will
flow "nicely". Whats important is that it flow optimally for the size and cam/carb configurtion of your engine.
Big flow isn't whats needed to make HP unless its suitably matched to a big engine. Its more important to keep the air speed fast so that exhaust
exiting the system can help that scavenging effect during the cam overlap period. 4 stroke theory....

It is all possible......just how much do you want to pay.
Probabally the simplest way is to get a good S&S header or something similar and them get a custom muffler welded up and tucked away (so as you can
get to the valves with out taking it off :duh)
Then you will need custom work for the heat riser.
Trouble is - by the time you have paid for the heat riser work you are 1/2 way to a set of duals and they dont need it.

I can see the heat risers are right and i can see heat tube connections but i assume it has heater boxes??
