I've got a soft head
One of my heads is really soft... insert jokes here... its the 3/4 head and it has had a serious VSR problem since I built it. Even using valvemaster
and flashlube doesnt stop it, only slow it down. Anyhow the problem I have is that now I have completely ran out of adjustment. The rocker arm is
touching the spring retainer.
The only long term solution is a new head. But what if I put shims under that rocker shaft. Will that give me some safe buffer time? Or will it throw
out the rocker geometry and destroy something. I dont want to bend a valve and cause some catastrophic destruction.

I had this happen recently on my "back up" kombi,
found that the further the seat receded, the faster the seat receded, probably because of less & fast weaking Aluminium behind the seats, aside from
any angle issues, & seating I think you would get very few further kms before your extra spacing ran out, maybe not worth the risk involved to rest
of motor - just my opinion from personal experience of this

Not much you can do any more. See if you can find one of those aftermarket adjustable length push rods (neverseen one, only heard about them for type
1 motors).
Best bet is retard the motor and run it a bit richer, but once it starts going it doesn't really slow down.
I wouldn't be keen to keep running it as the potential to drop a valve ruining the P&C and maybe even a rod gets too high.

Its time to fix it right, just a days work to replace the head.

i agree with dave ...once the seat has moved the flame travels under the seat and destroys the alloy behind as the seat moves around and punches the
boss around the guide..very very short term fix.. cheers steve
