11 :11-11/11
They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.

It was nice that even the Melb radio station Gold 104 observed a minute's silence. The girl I work with is Indian, and she was blabbering away to me.
I didn't say a thing to her until a minute was up. She had no idea. None
of my family have fought and died for our country, but I still take the minute to think about those who have served and are serving even now.

It really meant a lot for me as I was waiting in the transit lounge at the hospital after my crippling car injuries. All I could think about was how
much pain and injury people (ALL) went through, and how many of them would have been far worse than me.
For me it was a minute just to think about all war, destruction, death, non peace etc. and how so much of it is so unnecessary.
For the rest of the day, week, month, year, my life I will be fair to others.

Owen Prior, seige of Tobruk April 18th 1941
Ma, you should see these dive-bombers. They give plenty of excitement We'll be going about ordinary duties, when suddenly a yell wwill go up from
one of the lads, " LOOK OUT! IT'S ON!" And it is. Anything from 10 to 40 planes. in waves of 5 to 10 according to total number. Over they come, out
of the sun or clouds, Rat-tat-ta from their machine guns. Then, all at once, down go their noses. Down they come in a screaming power dive at their
objective. At about 500 feet, two (generally) black objects detach themselves (apparently) from the plane, He flattens out & climbs. The bombs
don't. Whump> They explode with a tearing rending deep boom. Up goes a huge cloud of dust. And mostly it is only dust. A.A. guns roaring, machine
guns rattling, wheep whizz wwhee of falling shrapnel, alll add to the din. > HELL, it's on again.
5 minutes later............Only one plane, & A.A. drove him off. That was dinkum Ma.
To resume/ You can beleive all you hear about Jerry deleiberately bombing hospitals etc. I have seen it done, & I have seen 8 planes dive-bomb a white
hospital ship & missed!
I don't mind daylight raids, but it is nasty at night when you can only hear the bombs whistling down, & wonder where they will hit. Daytime you see
them./ Well Ma, you wouldn't know your neatly dressed boy now./ Lucky to get a wash in 3 days. Shave the same or more. Old tattered coat, baggie pair
of Tommie boots, carry a revolver at the waist, Texas style, tin hat, big moustache (not trimmed since Januarary) with the ends pointed up sometimes
for a joke. Dirty & can't help it. But damned healthy. Eat dust & have it in tea. One water bottle a day to drink, wash, & shave. Brackish at that
I'd love a hot bath & a bed. However that will come again. Wish I could get a snap of myself as I am now, bbut not much chance.
Give my love to all, Tell 'em I'll be see',n em again.
Isn't this damn business rotten. Why should I , by virtue of my present occupation, be given license to break a Commandment? And the funny part is,
I've done it without compunction. Will again. And as often as necessary. WHY? IT ISN"T THE REAL ME. BUT TO HELP KEEP YOU ALL SAFE I WOULD DO
ANYTHING
God Bless & keep you safe
Love & best wishes
Owen
