WTB - Air Compressor for painting (or hire?)
Hi There,
Does anyone have a decent Air Compressor for sale or rent in Melbourne area? I am after something good enough to spray a kombi in matt black.
Also if anyone can recommend a make and model, that would be great
Cheers
Simon

make sure you get as big a tank as possible....their $89 ones are too small really...also get a water filter for the gun, supanaff guns are fine for
the job...just done mine with supanaff, no worries...

I personally recommend McMillan. A 12 CFM unit would just about do the job, but the $900 pricetag might hurt. Still I've had my McMillan 16CFM for 15
years and it still goes great.
Minimum 12cfm and 50L tank required.

Thanks for the replies!
BTW - Whats a water filter?
I saw a 50L, 2.5HP Warrior belt drive compressor at a big Mitre 10 sale on the weekend for $280 (down from $400). I was gonna get it but it said 206
L/minute out of the pump, which did'nt seem enough (around 7cfm i think)

water filter
when the air is compressed the moisture in it condenses to form droplets which can ruin your paint job; the filter is to remove these droplets prior
to the compressed air reaching the gun. I have a compressor you can borrow if you like, I don't know how many cfm it is however it will be fine for a
basic flat black job if that is what you are planning; call me I am in Brighton......I have used it to paint 2 pack primer etc it seems to have enough

Hey thanks for that - very generous offer too! Would you know if its a belt drive or direct drive? I've had a few people tell me not to use a
direct drive for a kombi as it will burn the motor ou - that would be the last thing I'd want to do, so just checking with ya!!!
Cheers

Like most tools, peopl buy them to keep, and sell them if they are a problem.
