EOI: FS 1960 KG Cabrio (new pics)
Hi All, very reluctantly I might be putting my Ghia up for sale prior to the end of the year. Unfortunately, I will be relocating overseas with work
for a period of 1 year. I don't have the space to keep all the cars. I owned the car for 12 years now. I restored it in early 1996 so the resto is
about 10 years old. The body work still looks great with no dents or rust that I can see anywhere. Recently I had a small bingle (a women nudged me
from the back) which required the repair of the left tail light area. At the same time I got the doors smoothed and couple of small bubbles in the
sills taken out. So from the A pillar backwards have been redone about 6 months ago. Work was done by Volkemenn. Interior is blue leather in very good
condition, no cuts or rips but 10 years old of course. Mechanically its runs very well, I use it everyday. It has a reco 1600 SP engine with 31PICT
Solex. I have a dual 31PICT Solex for it too. Gearbox is fine although slightly noisey in 4th. Doesn't jump out of any gears. Worst part mechanically
is the front suspension. Although I have new shocks on it (6 months old) it still feels rough. Top in good shape but simply doesn't fit right after
10 years. Chrome is all good. I have attached a pic which is more than one year old. I will get some more on the weekend. Since the pics, I got the
front headlights re-chromed and fitted Empi 5s. This is an original RHD australian delivered car. I have the letter confirming that from VW. The last
early model I saw up for sale was for $42k. I know it was fully restored and over priced but even the ugly '70s ones sell for high $20s/low $30s. I
am looking for offers around $20k. I never considered selling this car til I knew about my travel so I am very reluctant. I might even find somewhere
to store it for a year or 2. If someone is seriously interested, I can provide plenty of pics or you can view in Sth Melb or East Kew. More up-to-date
pics to come.
Cheers

Seriously now. When are you leaving?
I may be in a position to store it for you for a year or two in a locked garage.
We could work out a suitable cost based on an arrangement where you would pay rego and insurance, and I would 'excercise' the vehicle for you in a
professional and careful way in limited use. I most certainly would treat the car as my own as far as caring for it.
You would still have the option of selling it later.
