1969 Beetle - restorer delight - cheap - (pictures)

Ok, long story short.

1966 herbie too far gone to repair, chased up a 1969 herbie, rolling body, but had fibreglass front and guards bolted on. Have removed fibreglass and replaced with the early 66 guards incluiding headlights, taillights, all 4 guards, bonnet, decklid, front cut section to be matched up for fitment of early bonnet and also early rear apron cut section to be matched so the old school decklid can be used. The 69' is fitted with disc brake front, drum rear, 4spd gearbox, all glass, comes with a 1600cc motor that was running sound. Has been pulled down to check condition of heads and bores which have appeared in excellent condition. The motor comes with all tinwear, fan shroud, generator, carby (30 pict), dizzy, mechanic fuel pump and also an electric pump fitted to the body of the engine bay. Has leads, plugs and points 5000km's old, however does not come with exhaust. Engine needs heads torqued and all accesorys bolted back on. Rear main oil seal replaced and away you go. Can supply flywheel and clutch however the flywheel is missing a couple of teeth so tends to slip on occasions when starting. All electrics are still intact and were operating before dis-assembly some time ago.

As for rust in the body there was a small section of rust in the floor under the battery, which has been cut out and a good section of floor has been cut ready to be welded in, and a small amount of rust where the side steeps bolt up. Comes with a miss matched herbie seats all in good conidition. Rear seat has been retrimmed in cloth, and so to has front passenger, but driver is still original vinyl. Both front seats have tailored seat covers that have been made. Comes with workshop manual also.

Looking for $300 for this package. Perfect as a hobby car or perhaps even for parts. Definatly resortable. Original colour ascot green.

U2u or reply to this post for photos or any other questions.

Location is in Bendigo Victoria, and can deliver for the cost of fuel if that helps to surrounding areas.
