Running really rich!
Hey,
Had access to a exhaust meter and told me the bus is running reeeeeally rich, its slurping the gas, surging and the oil filler smells a bit like
petrol.
I checked the float bowl level, right was 14.5mm left was 13mm on type 4 duel carbs (range is 12-14mm)
What is the likliness that some1 has put in bigger jets or reamed the existing ones thinking they will get better performance? Is there an easy fix i
have over looked?

What carbs were they??.....stock??
Weber jets are $10-$20 each
You can get things like feeler gauges that will tell you.
Are the carbs balanced??
Do the butterflies move EXACTLY the same??.... ie are they sync'd???
What do you call slurping??
Have you checked your plugs??

Yea, its got stock carbs. Yea there balanced (by ear) and the throttle linkages move at the same time. Slurping asin used almost a whole tank from
sydney to gosford and back. Did check the plugs a while back and looked as tho the engine was running a little bit rich. The exhaust gas meter was
reading almost 4 percent carbon monoxide at idle and it wasnt possible to get it below that.
I might get some jets and do a swap next weekend and see if it fixes the problem, any other suggestions?
thanx for the reply bizarre
