carb compatible

teh old carbs have just about had it in my Type 3, they are in need of a serious rebuild unless i find another pair of excellent ones real cheap, but as i was rummaging under the house today i noticed my spare 2l 1976 kombi engine has a twin carb solex setup, and i was just wondering if anyone knows, besides throttle linkages, whether 2l kombi twin carbs are the same as '72 1600 T3 twin carbs?

Off the top of my head, I would have to say no. I think they are too big. I would also check the manifold for compatibility.
