KOC Beetle R.I.P

This morning at 8.55am a %&$# @A%^ drove into Fleurs KOC Beetle straight into the RHF fender area so hard the dash is creased, the drivers floor pan is creased and the A pillar is back a couple of inches, along with the RHF wheel and suspension all thown back into the A pillar.

I consider myself a gifted panel beater, but this is too much to even consider repairing.

The vehicle has gone to a better place. The fact the other car was a early model Magna and it is dead too doesn't make Fleur feel any better. She is angry and upset.

We will see what insurance makes of it and progress from there.

She drove it to work today because she was so happy about seeing all the other Beetles and lovely dubs at DOVW yesterday. She just wanted to have a Beetle cruise. She was cruising, loving her car. Then it all turned to shiat.

Fleur has done a lot of crying and she reckons she said at least 100 times to the cops and the ambulance drivers. "My car, My car" She is devastated.

We were looking at so many nice beetles yesterday looking at stuff we can get stuff to do, accessories to fit, now it's all gone.

Still Fleur reckons if it had of been the HELBUS she would have actually slapped the other driver stupid.

two accidents in such quick succession is just not on.
comiserations for the beetle, the only light side is that no life was lost, and for that i'm thankful.

such a shame, such a waste...

Pete that's awful. I couldn't believe you were talking about Fleur's bug 'cause we were talking about what she wants to do to it in the future yesterday at the show.

Ah well at least you can stop worrying about the paint?

(ps: you have a u2u)

Rob, she was telling me how excited she was getting talking to you at the show. She was really excited. That's why she drove the Beetle today, just because she wanted to cruise.

oh no Pete.

That is such bad news. I know how Fleur feels. It was bad enough when my last car was involved in an accident...but the VW...f anyone dared to touch the paint on Edith...i'd be hysterical. Well, after checking the kids were ok...then itd all be about the car.

But so glad Fleur wasnt hurt.

Now u just have to begin looking round to see what exists in the various price brackets....ready once the insurance check comes thru.

The annoying thing is I only have third party on it, and the other insurance company is already talking about "market value" from the Glasses guide.

Oh no, their market value will be jack #^@*... :(

You should be with Shannons! Full Comprehensive insurance is as cheap as third party, and covers the car for the value you want, plus if it gets written off you get to keep it.

Make sure you have Shannons everything with the next one!

*hahaha* Just read what I wrote, I should be a Shannons Sales Rep!

I actually have three other cars with Shannons full comp on one policy and the policy is due in two days and we were gonna add the Beetle with an agreed value of $4-5000

Unfortunatley gonna's just don't cut it.

MAn, harsh luck, esp after your accident ! that sucks big time.

I do hope Fleur is well.

I understand how she feels, having lost my 67 to a hit in almost the exact same spot, you are right, far too much to panelbeat. Sounds like its even too much to turn it into a baja or buggy now too.

Best of luck with the insurance companies and commisserations.

Bugger! :(

My first car accident (in an old Mazda 323) involved a huge truck, wrote my car off and I'd only had my license for three weeks. I was also two days off insuring it as I was waiting for pay day. The truck driver wasn't insured either. Luckily a guilt trip worked on the guy, and he paid in cash what I'd paid for my car since it wasn't a car any longer. It was hit on the driver's front wheel panel and door, buckling the roof, smashing the windscreen and moving the dash and everything forward 30cm into me... thank goodness I'm petite, I got out with a few big scratches, cracked rib and broken nose.
But yeah, trust those sorts of things to happen a couple of days before the 'gonnas' come in to effect.

Best of luck with getting it all sorted.

Sorry to hear Pete - lets hope something minor already has happened to fulfil the "bad things come in threes" notion. Hopefully your back, Fleur's accident and maybe something little like stubbing your toe completes the curse.

It's all up and up from here hopefullly! :thumb

We finally had the last march for the KOC. The carcass was taken away to be picked clean. Bye bye, we will remember you always. The trailer paraded the body until the end of the street, and then it was gone.

It's sad to see the KOC go, but at least Fleur has a new baby which looks the goods too.
We'll have to all meet up for a cruise very soon, I wanna see the newbie in the flesh!
