speedo dramas
hey all..
this afternoon i started the car up to take my little sister out.. drove down the street, and the speedo is stuck at "0"
ripped the front left hubcap off, sender looks normal.. i had a look in the back of the dash disconnected the speedo cable, everything looks tip top..
re-connected it but still noblthing? speedo was A-OK last night any ideas? i have a cover on the back of my dash.. and the cable didnt have anything
heavy on it at any point..
so whats more likley to be the culprit? cable/sender or speedo itself? fuel gause is fine, as is indicator lights/backlight
any help really appreciated

i had a spare cable under the house from parts car.. so i stuck that in.. i compared them first, the "old" one seemed to have a bit of slack, in the
end that connects to the wheel.. speedo works again.. but between 0-50 it is jerky..
it should just settle down yeah? it's fine over 50k's

What do you mean by "sender"?
Was the old cable snapped? Look at the wheel end, was it rounded out or worn?
Have you checked the cap on the wheel which the cable goes through? The square hole is often rounded out allowing the cap to spin without the cable.
The new cable may just be a bit bigger at the end filling the hole a bit better. What I had to do was put a washer under the circlip to pull the
cable a bit further into the hole. This made sure it engaged properly.
Ain't nothin' like the wind in your hair.
