$1000 for the
motor,
wiring loom complete to computer and fuse box and relays (including relays)
computer (ecu),
Air flow meter,
engine mounts, (round type not square type)
igniter module (sits in middle of firewall on engine bay side)
That would be a good price, if you can get cheaper, good on you, I wouldn't expect to pay any more than $1200.
They should be able to tell if it is EJ20 or 22 (probably 22) because the engine block has it in huge letters raised on it on top.
Get the chassis number if you can, because if you ever have to order parts from Subaru ever in the future, they want the chassis number to give you
the right parts

I would say if you are fitting to a bug, a SOHC will fit a lot easier. You will be cutting out more metal and fabricating a pretty wild exhaust to fit
in with the DOHC, but it is also doable.

The EJ 22 is a twin cam engine, the EJ 20 comes as a Quad cam or a twin cam. After about 97 the EJ 22 was replaced by the EJ 20 Twin cam as the heads
on the EJ 22 could not easily pass the new emmisoin laws.
If it is a twin cam EJ 20 ( SOHC) then it maybe newer than 1997. If complete with everything you need for a conversion I woild expect to pay around
the $1500 mark with a warranty.
If doing a conversion the EJ 22 is a proven performer and in my opinion drives much nicer than an non turbo Ej 20 Quad or Twin cam. It fits well and
it a very nice and availible engine.
Unless the wrecker is giving you a very good deal be careful as most warranties aren't worth stuff all and once it is in a VW they are worth even
less. Having said that they are a bullet proof engine so you probably don't need a warranty.
