Fuel Pumps
G'day All
Wanted to get some feedback on electric fuel pumps people are using. i.e what your running, happy with it, what application etc.
First of all my application will be for a 2110cc running 48dells
Some time ago I bought a Holley Blue pump, I haven't installed it yet so its brand new, however I have a mate (who I'll leave anonymous) who is
running thhi in his beetle, however the pump is very loud, i.e from outside the car you can here it over the engine idling.
Is anyone else running the Holley Blue and finding the same trouble.

I run a carter pump. Not sure on model. But is suits the 1776 with twin dells easy enough. Can't be heard, but then you cna't hear anything in my
car. Even when it runs when the ignition is on and engine is not running, its very quiet and can't be heard.
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!

Hi I am running one on type 3 with a 1800 kombi motor in it.
Mounted under the tank, very happy have had no troubles .
Can't remember the brand but it's the one that Mick motor's sell.

i run a rotary pump from repco and it works well with the 2L t4 i have in the bug and it has an inbuilt pressure regulator

Yeh I use a facet electic pump and it's quite as anything. If you touch it will it's running you can feel slight vibrations but it's completely
quite. Depends on the amount of pressure you need for the dells, but I'd defenitley recommend the facet pump.

Yer Facet type pumps do a good job.
Holley blue pumps are pretty high-end stuff and yerm they are very noisy.
Repco sell some simple pumps like a Facet but they are a heap cheaper and work perfectly.
I use one as a lift pump for my EFI turbo ute.
Just try to mount the pump as close to the bottom of the tank or if possible, below it.

think you would find a Holley blue would have too much pressure for a V.W (7pounds upwards?)the red would be a better option. i have ran the red pumps
with the associated noise and regulated at no ore than 3 pounds with out problems with delivery, with dells on a 2180, and standard 1300, 1641
did have trouble after a few years with increasing noise and the pump mysteriously stopping. i have heard of others holey pumps stopping due to heat
build up too (city driving)
they have supposedly redesigned the base of the holleys to reduce noise now.The new ones have a hexagonal shape where the outlet/inlet hoses hook up

The blue and red pumps should come with a pressure regulator that can be set at any pressure.

Yeah I have the regulator. I appreciate all the feedback.
Looks like I may opt for a different pump - so if you know anyone who might be interested in the Holley Blue let me know as I may have one for sale
soon.
