?? EJ2.2 turbo ?? !! :)

I have this 2.2 liberty motor , that I just can not get over how well it runs , lots of power .

I dont have any use for the motor at this point of time , but thinking I could make up a easy to do turbo set up as I have a turbo off a ej20T , has any one seen a set up on a ej22 ?

ideas guys

at this point of time the motor is for sale in the for sale section here .

I think you'll find its not as easy as bolting the turbo on. the ej22t and ej22 are different.

Been thinking about Neil

Wouldnt you have to decompress the motor, or otherwise you would be running real low boost :(

Would be a fair bit of work though once done it would be sweet as... perhaps...

Lots of people are putting twins on Lexus V8s with big boost and they are 10:1 comp ratio.

Subarus are pretty mildly tuned for their size and build quality. If you tuned it properly and had a good intercooler, the Ej22 would probably be safe for up to 9 pounds I reckon. The intercooler is the key though.

Just my opinion though from what I've seen on the web and in books.

Oh, BTW, there was that guy in the states with a SOHC Ej25 in a red monsta Baja. There was a link to the build up some time back on here somewhere. He ended up turboing it with no intercooler and it went hard. I'd be making sure I intercooled it myself.

I know the Subaru motors well. Putting a turbo onto an EJ22 non-turbo motor is a lot of work, and won't work all that well. The engine doesn't have the internal strength. You'd be better off selling the EJ22 and buying an EJ20 thats designed for the turbo (about $850 from a wrecker - try SSS automotive in Sydney).

For more info on any of this sort of thing (subaru engines), don't hesitate to ask questions or search the existing threads at http://www.rslibertyclub.org
