Best place to Advertise??

G'day Everyone,
I am currently trying to sell my bus and was wondering the best places to advertise it? Naturally I've placed a post on this forum, but was wondering what people thought about carsales.com.au, carpoint.com.au or tradingpost.com.au or any others??

Just wondering whats best and has the most success in general and with VW buses.
Thanks heaps for any info.
Cheers,
Dustin

If you have a local VW parts shop that you use try putting a notice up in the window or on the board there.. That method is usually quite succesful and if it's a kombi, hit all the backpacker hostels around the city, I'm Sure you will have some luck with that, particually at this time of year as the hostels all start to fill up due to travellers wanting to be a little more settled in one place around Christmas.. I think it's so they can find their way back when they get really pissed on New Years...!!!!
Don't "Waste" one cent advertising in the local or community newspapers... Not worth the effort, but the big weekend papers usually are..
There were a few people looking here as well, but, .....
well... good luck...

I hate to admit it, but man, I think you're right....

I've had a T4 for sale on here for the last 3 months with no nibbles.
nothing from carsales.com or autotrader.com either.
it's a great car for the price too.
lots of calls out of the local "Advertiser" newspaper though.
Weekend newspapers usually work best.

That's a bugger, hope you sell it soon. Yeh I reckon weekend newspapers would get the biggest audience. The advantage of selling on here is you know it'll more likely go to a good home.
I called a guy who was after kombi's and beetles to work on and resell. Ended up getting a reasonable price and didn't have to bother with any advertising and related hassles.
Thanks for the info though.

The dissadvantage is they tyre kickers that come around to look and want it for nothing... Although that may happen anywhere, I found it Particually bad on here...
One guy came over, broke or damaged 3 different items on the car then said it "Wasn't really what he was looking for"... He probably wanted one WITHOUT all the recently broken stuff on it....!!!!!??

I've always noticed the advertising that Muzz Buzz does.... Across the back of tight lycra shorts at most motor racing events.....:P
Maybe you should give that a go...;)

Yeh that too I guess. Damn tyre kickers! Should start charging inspection fees, refunded on purchase! Brilliant idea I reckon.

Dustin,

I have a website that you can advertise your Kombi on for free. http://www.kombisales.com  I have sold 5 kombi's in the last 6 months and all within 2 weeks of putting them on it site.

I have had other people advertise their vans on the site and it is very suprising how quickly they are removed (obviously sold).

I drive people to the site by advertising on popular backpacker sites and sell on ebay and provide links to the
site.

Best of all It is FREE.

Good Luck with the sale,
Luke

Thanks for the info Itonk. I've already managed to sell it very quickly. A guy who buys them and gets them in pristine condition again and resells them bought it.
Thanks for all the help from everybody though.
