Interesting transplant - VR6 into a Seat

Just found this transplant for sale.

Can anyone advise whether this would get a blueslip easily? Especially with the extra capacity, is the Seat at an appropriate weight? If not, maybe that's why it looks such a good price. All the same, would love to give it a belt. Lighter than a Golf VR6....hmmm

i dont think it would be much trouble getting an engineers report for the engine. the golf although heavier is a same platform vehicle. i am sure you could talk that thru.

Smells fishy to me. They're not asking for much $$$ for all of that work!

i dunno... seats are worth nothing. so the money is in the golf motor. if i was near or in the market, i would take a look for sure. make a great sleeper 'hot hatch'... wonder if it has air con and electric windows?

The golf and Ibiza are different platforms .
Ibiza is a Polo platform , Cordoba is a golf platform and Toledo is a Passat platform :thumb

If it's engineered correctly then a Blueslip should just be a matter of checking off the engineers report, and making sure she stops, starts, farts, etc. I'm not sure - never had to Blueslip anything. That's "if" it's been engineered correctly.

It certainly would be a good car to have a sniff at all the same, and throw a few questions around. Let me think - Suzuki Swift sized car with 2.8 ltr narrow V6....hmmmmmm

bet its not engineered as yet. that would be another 600-1000 for sure. but as it is said. the mechanicals are the same, so there is no major modding to fit. i would be sure you could get this thru. these things are not little like a barina. they are still a bulky-ish hatch. take it for a spin squiz and report back!!! you know you should. :ninja:

Hi

An old club member, Darryl Donald did it with a Mk 2 Golf, it passed no worries. What impressed the engineer was the use of factory parts to do the conversion, a parts bin special. Ask a local engineer what he thinks of the concept.

Steve
