I think i can win this

not mine but here are some of his comments

"I started looking at my heating system to see what needs to be done to get it working for winter since I'll have to drive it this year. The Passengers side heater channel is is pretty darn good shape. On the other hand the driver's side is all rusted out with rust chips laying there. My question is this..How do I go about replacing the heater channel? ..................Maybe if this is too much trouble I could cover up the rust rot with some metal or tape. What do you think?"

"It don't think my car is in bad enough shape to turn into a parts car. "

"However I don't think I'll be reparing this heater channel properly anytime soon. I may do some make shift repairs to it, but nothing propper. Thanks for the input. I just wanted to know how envolved of a task this would beand if it could be done with the body on"

"I'm sorry I asked this question. Is there a way to delete this thread? Thats all I have to say. "

Needless to say - this guy copped it a bit.

He was serious about his comments :jesus

Scrapped a '68 because the heater channels were gone.
Bought a new heater channel, cut one out and then found there wasn't enough metal to weld the new channels to.
It's not impossible but it's a big job.

I have done 5 and a half heater channels on bugs.

Then I am a pom, its the norm out there, if it hasn't been done then expect to do it. The actually heater channel is pretty cheap
