As title says ^ :)

Around about a 1957 to 1959 model beetle, if urs is otherwise, still give the width (and even the length if u can) cause would still help a bit (may be a lil' bit off distance with the late 50s beetles.

& WOuld a 8 x 5 feet trailer be big enough to carry a beetle? (I say yes, but ur the experiences fellas) :P

Thanx all.

Do you really mean 6metre by 4 metre?

If so you could fit three beetles on it.

If it is 6foot by 4 foot, it wont fit

lol. Ok, rephase. will it fit in an 8 x 5 feet trailer? and how wide is a 57' bug? (or any bug, just any would give me a good estimate, as long as its a pre 75' model.) cheers :P

ok 6 by 4 foot.......u wouldnt fit jack on i think that they might be talking about box trailers.

hire car trailers are pretty much a standard size dual axle jobby usually.

did u specify car trailer?

just tell em u wanna fit a medium sized sedan on it.

So what went wrong when *you* typed 'vw beeetle width' into Google?

greatly appreciated for ur help fellas.

google ay? Lol, was actually in too much of a rush to think of that. Mind was cluttered with ideas and excitement, and went straight to the obvious place, avd (Plus its more cool to hang out at avd than "google") Lol

Anyways, have a bit of excitement. Very likely chance of having a 57' beetle as my 1st car (which would be a resto). How awesome is htat. The car almost being 50 yrs old (half a century), what a classic. :beer

ok, all sorted. wew! GOt the measurements, and have found a 'car carrier' trailer as they call em. Was a bit of confusion, when saying 'car trailer', they thought as in a trailer towed by a car (a box trailer for a car). But all sorted, thanx all.

What is it with people here having an aversion to actually getting someone to Tow it for you on/with a truck...???
Did you hire a trailer...??
Some people complain to me about the price of towing, so they go hire a trailer, only to find it would have been cheaper to get me to tow it for them...:spin:
If you can't afford to have it towed, how can you afford to buy it and build it.....????;)
best of luck to you anyway..

Don't know how much you charge, but the towies here can be thieves if you want something towed any distance or on a weekend.

stop selling urself to me man, ur on the otherside of the bloody country :P

lol

actually, it does turn out cheaper. Guy who was selling it has a mate who is in the towing buisness next door, and could get me a deal with mates rates for transport. I told him the price i got for the trailer, and he said there is no way the tow fella was willing to go that cheap, (even with mates rates). Least price the tow guy was willing ot offer was double the price of the trailer.

So, it works out cheaper for me.:thumb

I never ever tow on a trailer. I always use flatbed tow trucks. In my own personal opinion, it is just not worth the time, money and fuel to tow a car trailer. If it is over 20k's I just hand them the $50 at the start and say that's it, cash. They never knock it back. The way I see it, it's safer, quicker and once you think about fuel, it is same price.

I've towed on a car trailer a couple of times... talk about a hassle! Winching it on... pulling it off... trying to reverse the trailer... having to push the car up the driveway... plus it always takes 2 hours longer than I planned so the hire guy charges me extra. A flatbed towtruck is SO much easier cos they do all the work!

My dad's gonna be the one who is driving. He is used to towing heavy stuff, around the equivalent weight of the bug and trailer. Lucky the bug is drivable too (except 2nd gear is stuffed). so driving it on and of the trailer will be fine, but not really possible to get a permit in driving the vehicle home. Gonna be raining tomorrow when i go to take a look, thats gonna be a b!arch. But all good.
