NEva mind, found one!!! Want to BUY: Looking for 70 or earlier vw beetle

!!![This request is now discontinued]!!!

Hi all u avd fellas, how u doing?

I have got the Cash, and am looking around for a first car beetle. Now, the cash is there, waiting for the right car, but with the amount of cash I have, I'm expecting to buy a car thats gonna need a bit of work.

My budget: around $600 to $800. Anything would do, even if u have a bug that u rekon may be worth far less than $600, wateva, just gimme a look and will take it into consideration.

By the way, I'm aroudn the Brisbane - Goldcoast area, am willing to travel a bit north side, or lil' bit south of the coast, lil' bit out west too.

So what can u offer me? My budget will slowly increase as money comes in, so even if u have a beetle u rekon is slightly over that budget, Tell me about it and i will see what i can do.

PLEASE reply to me through an email to (mynameischris88@hotmail.com) or give me a U2U. All help would be greatly appreciated. thanks :thumb

omg man, it was insane. The powerlines were dancing radically above us, and the rain falling was bucketing down hard. Dad did a pretty good job towing the heavy trailer in wet weather. Certainly took some skillmanship, seeing the trailer was a crappy rough heavy thing (compared to other car trailers we have experienced).

The lightning was pretty awesome too. but yep, am alive lol

Hi Chris,

Is this beetle going to be a daily driver?

I owned a 1960 for a year, and just a tip - set aside a big amount of cash because things WILL go wrong! I guess no matter how well built these cars are, you just can't expect them to work reliably since they have so much mileage on them.

I've sold it now - can't afford it :sniffle:

Yeah. It wouldn't necessarily be a daily. Maybe every weekend and a few nights of the week. (Will be catching a train to uni, cheaper than a car)

Yeah, they do bugger up heaps, but I am willing to rebuild the engine. (great books out there to help me). So not necessarily after a road worthy one either.

And if the engine in a bug that anyone wants to offer me is missing or stuffed, i will definitely consider that vehicle. Have around 6 to 12 months MAX perhaps to fix it, and being a single uni student, living with my parents (don't have to pay rent), will be able to get some money going towards it.

Chris you're probably better off saving a bit more and getting a half way descent one that's going and maybe registered...
@ 700 bucks I'd be expecting to find either a car the owner does not know the value of, (you won't find that on Here) or an over priced basket case needing a total rebuild that doesn't go and is many thousands of dollars away from embarrasing you...
(plenty of those ;))
It's a good learning experience to get an old car and fix it up, but if you get a heap of crap that needs lots of work, it could also put you off too...
either way, just a thought.. good luck..

I hate to admit it, but man, I think you're right....

thanks for the advice mate. yeah, i have been careful. Looked at one today that was gonna take a bit more work and $$$ then i would have wanted to give, i am looking carefully, and i got my dad to help me out and give me his opinions. Just a matter of looking at hte opportunities, thinking, and predicting what would come ahead of the vehicle i would want to buy.

Found a great lil' baja, I have put in a deposit, so it looks like i have found my 1st car.

Needs a lil' work. lil' bit of structural rust under front guards, and a bit of rust between bonnet and windscreen. Floorpan is awesome. Seats are torn (but seller supplying covers), engine did run smoothly and noicely, and will once i pull the engine out and tighten the fly wheel (according to the seller's thorough diagnosis), but needs a lil' work (needs an alternator), airshocks and airhorn needs to be wired up. The baja kit is great and straight too. Barwork comes with it, looks a bit shabby, but a sand and polish would be great for it. Comes with engine cage too, and was previously registered (in 2002), and since has been sitting in the owners yard slowly getting fixed up and looked after and was obtained by the seller by trading for an expensive dog.

I was neva after a perfect car, and wanting something that would require a bit of work, but nothing that was going to kill me. Just something basic (in comparision to other stituations), that can teach me a few lil' things and know hows for a start.

For xmas, got some great sets of tools, ready for the car. (will be delivered after 9th of Jan)

So for the time being , its all good, no need for any more car search, unless for some unknown reason everything goes pear shaped, but shouldn't be a worry. (I have got my back covered, and the seller is a trusted member of avd)

Yes, it is taht one, very much so. he said that u may have been interested in it for the pan.

What i paid for it? Well, not much, i won't go into detail till the car arives, But say $500 for car, $40 for replacement door on driver side (is a bit dinted, could be panel beated, but couldn't be bothered at da moment) and $150 for delivery from Maryborough.

With the roller accelerator pedal, anyone got an idea how that works. I have seen it, but am yet to get my head around it. Looks interesting, and i bet any thief that hops in the car (if they do) would give the wtf to it. Lol

some time ago there was a thread (I believe in the off road section) where somoene wanted to do something about that roller pedal...
Chase it up, you'll find what you need to know there..
Good score, well done...
