VW injuries time

ok pain have your vw's put you in, no wallet type of pain dosent count, now my bug has ended me up in hospital 3times, 2x directly, once indirecty, they are they only things i have ever been in a hospital really, so anyway its 3-0 to the bug now, its scored my nose first, then indirectly caused my ear alot of pain, had a nice unique peircing for a while, and earlier today my arvo of bug stripping was ruined when it bit my thumb very hard and at speed on the knuckle, so whats everyone elses sob stories, oh and thanks to my thumb my arm hurts now aswell:cry:P

Well, Gwendoline hasn't put me in hospital yet, touch wood.

Almost zapped myself the other day though, had my hand under the dash doing some stuff with the guages, and saw some sparks right next to my hand, pulled my arm out so fast i took some skin off on the bottom metal edge of the dash.. :(

But for some reason i still love the beast!

Never ended up in hospital, but a job is not finished unless I'm bleeding.

Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.

I've had a beetle engine fall on my chest, if that counts. A jack stand broke and the 2 top engine studs broke and down she came.

No trip to the hospital, but very bloody sore.

Seb,
my first beetle took a good bite out of a finger when I was trying to change a tire one day, lots of blood, but no stitches.
Elvis,
well so far his pan has dropped on my foot (good thing I was actually in hard tip boots after work that day!!), lots of skinned knuckles, metal splinters into skin and a very sore back. but no hospitalisation.
as for Osama,
nothing.... yet!!!

I was tooling around under the bonnet of my beetle a few years ago and shorted out the ignition while taking out a gauge, running over my own foot!

No hospitalisation but there were a few choice words and a lot of hopping:smilegrin:

Had the body off my Manx and was doing some work on the gearbox mounts. Chassis was on 4 axle stands. I'm on the floor , lying with my legs underneath the chassis body pocking up fron the rear frame horns.

My brother walk in to say hello and puts his foot on top of the front bulkhead and pushed the chassis off it's stands. Leaving me supporting a whole vw chassis with my legs and face , pinned to the ground. Whats more brothers being brothers he watched me scream my head off and wet himself laughing at me for a good 5 minutes!

Apart from some bruising and a big cut near my nuts i was ok . I did seek my revenge hence my move to Oz! I know he'll get me when i'm back which i'm not looking forward to!! Ah brotherly love!!!

concussed myself and split my head open with a falling bootlid. The doctor got angry at me (unusual for mr quiet chinese doctor, said he'd seen the edge of a bonnet cause a concave fracture of the skull and kill someone. I didn't tell him, the bonnet hit me only an inch from where the rego plate bolts stick through...:puke)

broke my wife's pinky when I accidentally closed the door in it as we were trying to push start it. She needed plastic surgery to repair the nail bed and I had to wash up for 2 months straight. :grind:

I have also burnt, grazed and done various other things to myself, but they don't bear mentioning much.

Talking while getting into my beetle some years ago and the door slammed (car was parked at the side of the road with a lot of camber) and shut my head between the door and the gutter, split my head a good un and I was on my way to a party as well! Also sitting on the floor while undoing the locking nut on a tie rod and the spanner slips off and I smack myself clean in the head knocking myself out, I walk indoors to peels of laughter from my darling children who thought it hilarious! My middle son Mick always points out the spanner to anybody who enters my garage now:P

Oh I GOT ONE!

Incredibly, even though i don't own a bug myself I have had a few injuries (NOT too bad) from working with my mates bug.

Well, when doing a few fishtales, knocked my head really hard against the walls of the bug ( i was in the back of a chop top (where the sides weren't cut off, but the roof was).

But WHile working under the hood trying to get off those dangerous spring loaded hood hinges or wateva at the front, the bug tried to kill me a few times with those, still alive. But on the same day, i had a lightbulb of the handheld light thingo we were using under the hood to look around blow up in my face, the glass shattering everywhere. Very odd though, i didn't get a scratch or cut, (was very lucky, imagine sharp glass going in ur face, was lucky to no have it go in my eyes.)

Hit my slef a few times when trying to manually take off a bolt or nut that is really tight, and it slipps out when u use heaps of force, flinging and stabbing at ur legs (hard when the bolts and nuts of the previous owner had burred em up a lil') [found the benefit of air tools that day too,Lol].

But thats about it. I'm sure there will be more when i fix up my 1st dub i plan to get.

Been sucked in to taking pieces of metal off the panel beating guy when he passed 'em over saying 'stick that out the way will ya' - the difference being that old leather hands can hold hot metal where as Mr Princess cannot. Still not learned....he of course finds the same gag endlessly funny.

The other one is forever clocking the tail gate under the chin on the caravelle when sticking in the shopping...damn those gas struts are fast.

I picked up a floorpan many years ago and went to slide it through my legs, only to successfully slice open the back of my knee. Didn't think I needed stiches, so left it. Then put friars balsam on it, got dermititis with my whole leg swelling up. ....then....I finally went to hospital. LOL.
