Disasembling the doors
Hey all,
My 1970 beetle is in the middle of painting at the moment. The paints want to know the tricks to stripping the doors of their rubbers / chrome trim
etc. Can anyone help?
Basically just need to know how to get the doors back to plain metal. I've got the door trims off the inside, and the handles and chrome off the
outside, but we're having trouble removing the rubber and chrome from around the windows without breaking / bending it.
Thanks in advance!!!
Pete

unless your rubbers are brand new.......and ur doing a full respray and taking that much care why not get new rubbers to make it all pretty?
u can get cal look rubbers that dont use the chrome strips or i u can get the ordanary rubbers but i think u need a special tool to get the chrome
trim back in.
the u dont have to worry about wrecking the old rubbers as they would be glued in and hard to get out without damaging.

Ahhh I thought that may be the case, they didn't seem to be clipped or anything. Thanks mate, will look at getting some new ones.
