I grew up around them. My grandmother owned a bus fleet.

Well, they did have the engine in the back. Makes them more like a VW than the modern VW.s

I did buy back one of gran's fleet to do as a camper. If you want to start a domestic, come home with something 30 feet long & 14 feet high.
The TOP speed of 32mph put me off & a museum has it now.

Ok, my source tells me, the correct spelling of bus in ‘70's pic is "Leyland Atlantean" the chassis of which comes from UK in 1969 a total of 224 where built for Sydney bus routes the 1St going into service 03.05.1970 from the Mona Vale depot.
Anyone know the bus driver's name?

They also had a split windscreen, so they couldn't be all bad eh?

the holden behind the benz looks like a HG, I think they were released in 1970. I know that is irrelavent now the big bus has been dated but I was thinking of that since I opened the pic.

No, I see I've mislead you here. Mine was not an atlantean, I had a 38 titan.

Last I heard of it a bloke had it stored for the historic commercial vehicle mob in Tempe. But seeing as the government want to sell their building out from under them, they have problems of their own.

Stanley Butler!! Correct. Jeez you crack me up.
I reckon that's a Mini 4 back from the two.
There is another beetle right at the top of the pic on the far inside lane heading towards the camera. Hard to see in this reproduction of the pic.
