how far will it go in your experience.

hi all, i am currently in the process of rebuilding my t3 and i want to beef the motor up a little. i am thinking maybe 100hp or a bit more....just wild enough to excite but street legel. i was just wondering, due to the money factor, whether its work going scat block or just working the original with new cam, crank, pistons etc? i got told the original blocks are very weak and have a lot of stress points.

any help would be hot. also if anyone knows kim shepard in launceston, give us a yell if he's any good cus thatswho i was thinking about getting my machine work done.

cheers, jonno

Are you joking?

Mention money being a factor and a scat block in the same sentence?

Scat blocks are nice, but are really only needed on real high output engines, like well over 200hp NA or 400plus turboed.

If you have the money id recommend buying a new standard style case as the old cases still with us are mostly pretty tired, and there are some nice new cases which come with more clearance for bigger strokes etc and aluminium construction, just do your research because some of the aluminium cases were a bit average, Theres quite a few different ones. Scat case is huge overkill.

Now i "assume" we are talking rear wheel horsepower???

A stock 1600 will not put out 60 ponies at the wheels. Licky to do 40

100 ponies at the wheels is a big ask

A 1916 will do it but not with stock heads. Will definitely need webers, cam and full merged exhaust as well

Do a search of the dyno days and see what you can find.
Anything over 80 at the wheels would be "fun" to drive

100 ponies is a lot of hp for a NA engine, and to get that from a vw engine will cost $$$$$.
