Sorry Dave, can't tell you precisely because I had a whole bunch of stuff done but I believe it should approximately cost about $100-140 per wheel. I
was after a 'vintage' painted look but more durable and a bit more resilient to rust but it came out disapointingly too 'shiny' for my next resto.
I didn't want chrome this time like my other sets. Dubb61, you'd be better off buying one set of Flat4's and investing the rest on driving
lessons.
Cheers Matey and thanks for the free bump!:thumb

Aldo nice mate
I like the ceramic coating I've not seen it on wheels before but it seems to work. I wouldn't say these are totally rare more hard to come by if
you keep your eyes open you will find a set of them out there. 4 bolts are a lot easier to come by I must admit.

It makes me laugh when people say rare and original,
How can they be original when they have been ceramic coated???
It would be like getting a set of BRM copies , painting them pink and calling them rare??

Maybe so....but a set of 35+ year old wheels restored or whatever condition, will always be worth more than a repro. Wassup? Haven't you got a set?

that is correct
we do not understand why youse do not understand that that sum of money is alot of $ for a non original set of steel wheels that were originally a $50
per wheel option when first offered to the public. the wheels are very nice and collectable but for those dollars it opens up a whole lot of nice VW
options. good luck with sale both here and on samba.( i do not also understand how a $30 spare wheel tool kit is now worth a $1000+ but so be it)

The wheels and a $30 tool box are really quite a good deal. Do some sums - Compound interest on $200 (4 wheels) over 30 or 40 years. Do the same
calculation with the $30 toolbox over 50 years! For the calculation assume 7% interest! Pick a lower interest rate if you like. But you should also
consider numerous other value adding factors. If I had a spare 3g's I would jump at the wheels! I have a toolkit which cost me about 7% over 50 years
on the quoted original price. I was very happy with the price I paid. Even happier now that I did the calculation!
EDIT:
What a bitchy place this can be. Poor man is offering some rare stuff and ends up being bashed!
FMD!
My 7%'s worth!

yeah you guys should all lay off..
he's selling a quality product, that will appeal to an enthusiest, just cos u can't see the point in having original items when u can get a repro
for fuck all dosent mean u should bag him, or his goods
i'd much rather a set of lemmers, than flat four and would gladly pay for them if i was after a set.
good luck aldo, you'l find your buyer who'll appreciate them for their part in history.. not just want them for the look

no one i see is bagging him. the product is a very good one and quite collectable. but he must have known the can of worms he opened by asking for
useless information.
(i have both types of thoses $30 toolkits so i know their value) but it will take a special collector to be able to afford them. i wish him well
with the sale too.

I do know what rare and original means.
1. rare means not easily available.
2 original means not altered from standard.
so they came standard ceramic coated did they, news to me.

No ones bagging these wheels, if I came accross like I was then someones got the wrong end of the stick. The flat fours are a totally different type
of wheel for a start there all alloy where as the originals are pressed steel. in my opinion one of a very few wheels that look better in pressed
steel than the alloy copies
Good Luck with the sale aldo I'll state again I think these wheels look great in the ceramic coating subtley different.

So you mean if one finds an original silver Porsche 356 Speedster, the owner restores it and painted it black, it is no longer considered an original
Porsche Speedster?
By the way, a free bump was based on a useless comment and I was hoping for a friendly one at that and certainly not an idiotic one like yours so far.
Thanks Fred Floggs!
