US dvds
Hi
Will US DVDs play in local all region DVD players, I would assume that they are NTSC?

I believe that DVD's go on zones.
US is zone 1
we are zone 4
if you have a multi zone DVD player then you may be able to play them,
how ever i am not 100% sure.

My cheapo player can 'read' NTSC and PAL (think they all do).. you have to set it to 'send' only PAL to the TV..
Check your instructions or if you don't have them, go online. You'll usually find all that info for your model.
As stated in above posts, be sure to set it to all regions (I think it's 'region 9').
It's the expensive name brand ones that are hard to crack!
If you bought it new from a store, you could go back there and ask 'em.

Oh, I forgot..
sometimes theres a code you need to enter (via remote),
to access the region menu.
Once again, the interweb will tell you if the seller won't (but they will!).

Hi
The DVD i bought is First Wave, a Sci Fi series that disappeared a few years ago from our screens and we only got one season. So I will soon have all
66 episodes. The porn star was Traci Lords by the way.

Cmon Steve. How much did you pay for the complete Knight Rider collection. Hide it from Heather... she's a Hoff freak.

Hi
Just so you know, the US DVDs work fine in my $99 Dick Smith DVD player, just set it to read auto (both PAL & NTSC) in the menu and my old telly
played it fine as well. I'm up to disk 4 of 8.
The DVD is taped from US TV, the sensors for the TV network that showed it beeped a guy saying Gxxdam and fogged a scene where a ladies dress rode up
and you could see her nickers, they had no problems with people getting shot etc, Hmmm, the land of the free???
