Dash mounted vent knobs....answered!

All,
Next purchase is a Bentley manual....I swear....in the mean time....how do these come apart. I've unbolted the steel bracket which retains the plastic geared mechanism, and all other dash knobs are off....except I can't work out how to get these off.....

Any help much appreciated!

After a lot of trolling and searching, much to my disgust, they just pull off...with a bit of force after 35 years of sitting there!
