please explain why or what?

my baby is not liking first gear.

when stopped at a set off lights, i go to put he into 1st, feels like she is in gear go to move when lights change and she won't go and or if she does she struggles i stop. ppl honk and curse. i move her into 2nd, 3rd back to 2nd and then back to first and if luck is on my side we move.

what is causeing the problem? only late last year i had the clutch and pressure plate changed. could it be as simple as the clutch cable needing to be tightened??

please help!!! it is driving me nuts!!!:cry

Could be any number of things,

worn shifter rod bushing,

gear shift base plate may have moved,

clutch cable needs adjusting,

loose gearbox mounts.

Do you have access to a workshop manual?

unfortunately i don't have access to a work shop manual i would love to though!!!

only a little trouble going into 1st but i have learned that rolling froward and then trying works. just means i have to leave room when i stop to allow me to roll forward and still be back a bit from the car in front or just pray for no red lights.

thanks guys

56astro are the things you mentioned costly to repair. :sandrine hoping it is only the clutch cable that needs adjusting.

no

no

no

and no

It can be difficult to try and explain over the net how to check and fix any of the possible reasons. That's why a workshop manual is so handy.

tighten ya clutch cable and if that doesnt make a difference then its ur synchro's. Mine sometimes doesnt go into gear, worst comes to worst, when u pull up at the lights when ur still rolling, pop it into 1st and keep ya foot on the clutch. Or you could try turning off your engine, putting into first, put foot on clutch then start. But either way ur going to cause wear to your throwout bearing and clutch or starter motor...
