Fuel guage

Alright folks, the fuel guage sender in my 73 kombi has died of old age.
How do I get at this bastard without taking the tank out, because that means the motor has to come out too.

Well, theres one thing you've said Lee that I wont argue with.

I have no doubt, the blokes who built kombis, never had to repair one......:cussing

Can anyone else think of ridiculously designed components on VW's.

I mean really, it would not have been too hard for VW to design an access hole for the sender!

the fuel guage sender unit was my 1st Kombi disaster - after all a fuel guage not working is not a consideration in buying a vehicle ---or is it?:cussing
next stupid horrible thing was those rotten 12point screw head bolt things on fuel pump & the drive plate for torque convertor, next was the windsreen washer switch that makes you look like you pissed your pants when you use it

There is an alternative.
I got a spare fuel tap for the 57. I'll just put that in & attach a piece of wire.
Bingo.....instant reserve.........
