has anyone made DIY poptop canvas
Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has made their own replacement poptop canvas for a bay camper?
Ours has seen better days and was thinking it wouldn't be too hard if we had the measurements. My wife is pretty handy with a sewing machine.
Any pros / cons or anyone had any experience with this?
Cheers!

hi just done the canvas in my kombi but i had help from a old bloke who repairs horse rugs. but after watching him make it its not that dificult but
you will need a industrial sewing machine & good canvas. just make sure you measure from corner to corner properly or it could end up to tight & that
makes it dificult to staple into the timber. I had what they call bones or bows put in the walls all round they help the canvas naturaly fold in when
pulling the top down. believe me thay will make a big difference. My top cost me $300 that was for the canvas; bows;him helping put it in & labour i
thought that wasent to bad as he put zipper windows with weather flaps on them it looks great. I hope thats been a help but do excuse my spelling good
luck with yours.

Thanks for your reply!
Well, we don't have an industrial sewing machine...just the basic home type but it may be an option to put a heavy duty needle on it to do the
job.
Do you remember whre you got the material from? I've seen some at Clark rubber that looks the part.
What are the bows made from? Are they on the inside or outside?
Thanks!

Hi sheehy7474, I'm interested in the bows you mentioned. Can you describe them more or post some pictures please?
