1.6ltr single port motor $250

1.6ltr single port motor runs well still in 74 model kombi the whole lot for $250. We were going to sell it off in parts & have asked $250 for the motor but have decided it is time to clean out so buy the motor get the body for free. Still plenty of good parts left including complete running gear, front seats, rust free doors, dash. will add some more pics tomorrow.

Here's my problem..

Email 2 days ago
Hi David, don't want to sound pushy but, I Have a very interested guy in the whole kombi (in Maryborough), I will need to know definite plans from you in the next couple of days such as what you want & how we are going to get it there, after that I can give you my bank details so you can at least forward some type of deposit (please)? Just wanted to let you know as you still have the first option (to be fare)
Thanks
Melissa

Did you notice,, first option to buy???

My reply (same day)

Hi Melissa & Jason

Sorry for the delay,, I'll definitely take the engine (with clutch) for $250. I was waiting on the sound bite of the engine (did'nt work unfortunately). If you send me you bank details I can put $100 deposit in on Monday.
Are you able to help out with transport? (You mentioned before some friends of yours heading down to Lismore or some friends who may be able to freight to Brisbane), any help would be appreciated.
I won't take the front seats (too bulky to send) but if you have any sliding rear windows I'd be interested.

Thanks again
David

Why did the engine go to Karmen?

And why is Karmen now trying to sell it back to me for $100 more? + postage?????

No bloody happy,,,,,

Thanks for nothing Mel & Jason

Guidelines for Buying & Selling

Once you have posted an item for sale, it is customary to give the first person who indicates a genuine interest first option on it. If they simply ask questions, this is not a genuine interest.

Dave, I can understand you being unhappy about this but I would like to clarify a few of the things that you wrote such as replying to me on the same day as I sent you the email giving you the option to buy the motor before Karmen did, This was not the case I emailed you on the 20th at 3.57pm & I did not receive a reply until the 21st, the sound bite of the motor you state you were waiting on was sent to you on the 18th, I did give you the first option I actually have just checked my sent mail box & I have 2 messages sent to you via email & 3 u2u's. I was unaware that Karmen was going to onsell the motor to you for an added charge & no money has yet changed hands although he did tell us that he definately wanted it, so it was probably very premature of him to email you saying he had brought it & could sell the motor. We only just read your email this morning, & was unaware that you had emailed us the day before (almost 24hrs later)you also had a ph number to contact us on. We are only acting in our own interest & after not hearing from you with a definate response. & as for the statement above in the selling guidelines I am confident you only showed genuine interest after I sent the email informing you of a third party being involved, up until this point you only ever expressed interest in seeing photos & sound bites & enquireing on transport you conditioned the purchase of the motor on the compression rating that was emailed to you almost 5 days ago & I only received confirmation via email yesterday wich was only read today.

Reminder for you Mel,,

Received 20th
"I will need to know definite plans from you in the next couple of days such as what you want & how we are going to get it there

Reply by me (in less than a 24hrs!!!)
I'll definitely take the engine (with clutch) for $250.

This came from karmen 6hrs after your post (still sure you waited Mel???)
1600 sp compl clutch to muffler quiet and still in car can del $350 or less if u have 12vlt trade

If you wanted to sell it to someone else you could have at LEAST asked if I would mind,,,

Unlike karmen I actually need a replacement engine (mine is near dead),,, All karmen is interested in is making a quick $$$$

Just like you !!

I emailed you as I had no phone number to contact you on to let you know a 3rd party was interested in the kombi. I had not heard back from you that night & karmen turned up the next morning before you had actually replied on the 21st. I am not involved in what karmen is intending on doing with the kombi after he pays for it, that is beyond my control. You say I am after a quick buck well I suppose you could say that I am certainly going to look after No 1. first & due to the circumstanses such as having sent multiple emails to you over the last 7 days & gave you the compression test almost a week ago (which you depended the sale on) & you only gave me a definate yes AFTER Karmen had looked at the kombi.

hay David

the $ are negotiable
check ur e-mails
and who offered you a del to Bris for $50 and uninstall for $50 ?

want a discount ? want the engine ?
u are r still able to negotiate with me but as Mel indicates (AND i have never met her ...so no favours etc) do u delay the communication?
I agree u are stressed due to needing an engine.
Maybe i am stressed due to needing a lil pocket money. bills and rego and storm damage..i wont go on
If u were coming to get engine it would cost u more than $50 in fuel say 500 kms return .
and Mel & hubby are too busy to pull it out 4 u so me do that and then load in trailer and then use more fuel than normal (auto)
u may see u save time and $$ if you negotiate with me and not the forum as i have helped out a lot of dubbers and like it.
please contact me by e-mail and will sort it.

Karmen is right on the money Dave, we would have had to pull out the motor & drive the motor to Brisbane we never said we were going to deliver it for free we had mentioned fuel money wich would be easy $60 & your fuel money to get to Brisbane to pick it up would certainy go over the $100 more he is charging? Karmen has brought the kombi to wreck as he knows a lot more about them than we do, and will be able to deliver it to your door for $350 so in the long run you are far better off buying it from him any way So I really cant see the huge drama?
I certainly wasnt to lazy to contact you if that was the case why do I have over 10 messages that were sent to you & only a handful of replies, I am very offended & dissapointed in you trashing me over this when you are not totally blameless for not letting me know as you said you were going to 5 days prior to the shit hitting the fan.
I am not going to turn down a buyer when he is standing in front of me especially when the return communication from you was poor & before you say you got back to me the same day again I have the emails sent by me & replied to by you & it was just short of 24hrs as karmen did not buy the vehicle until aprox 12pm on the 21st.
Do I need to remind you that I gave you my mobile number so there is no excuse why you could not contact us.
Everything you have written is hugely hipocritical & totally one sided.
It's as simple as this you started communicateing over a week ago told me you would have it if compression was good, good compression rates were given to you then you wanted to here the motor running, this was given to you on the 18th after not hearing from you again Karmen u2u me on the 20th showing interest, I then emailed you early in the afternoon with the new developments & my phone number notifying you that you needed to get back to me ASAP that night karmen rang to make arrangements to see it the next day, as of 11.30am on the 21st there was no ph call or return email from you & at 12pm on the Saturday karmen turned up & we agreed to sell it to him.
So yea I see how it is all my fault here!

Regardless of everything you can have the same motor for $100 more DELIVERED!
