It was built as a show car. Very pretty but mechanically fairly tame (apart from a bit of engine work). Insane attention to detail, lots and lots of $$$ spent on it (more than twice the $$$ I've spent on mine)

Not suprisingly it was my dream car when I was a teenager, I wanted one just like it.

The builder of the car (Michael Nash) sold it quite a few years ago. The new owner then appeared to use it as a daily driver and I think it's condition went to crap. I saw pics when that new owner was trying to sell it again, and it looked very rough and unloved in the photos.

How can anyone let such beauty go to waste?.
I hope it hasn't. this thing is what inspired me to VW's,
I bought my first baja after seeing this.

The car did look very good in it's heyday. The ICE system was just as good as the outside. I think you'd have to be blind not to have liked it.

That said, I've personally always kind of wondered why people built Bajas as show cars. I mean with so much offroad ability, it seems a shame to leave so shiny all the time. I mean, I hate washing my buggy, the only reason it got a rinse off today is cause it's raining outside and I had a spong and a spare 5 minutes.

Might chamois it off in the garage. Clean for another 6 months. ;)

I think you'd be hard pressed finding any of the old show cars from back then that are still in the same condition today....pity, there was definately some nice cars getting about the show scene.

That Baja actually sold on here about 12mths back. The guy who owned it lived at Airlie Beach and wanted $6000 or a swap for a road bike. He sold it to a guy sth of him which could be anywhere from Melb to Airlie I guess. Do a search on here and the add will probably pop up.

It was a cool baja ....
