Dash pot's

Hey guyz,
Finally found a dash pot to try on my bus and put it on yesterday arvo. I took the bus for a spin and its alot easier to make a smooth gear change. Before i would have to make small adjustments to the accelerator to avoid slowing the car by not having enough engine revs when jumping up a gear and be a bit more careful with the clutch. But now with the dash pot i can take my foot right off the accelerator, clutch in, shift and then just drop the clutch and it will be a perfect change every time. This is probably not working my synchro's as hard and letting me use the clutch a bit less. Since putting the dash pot on its been beneficial..... so why does a vw without a dashpot exist? Why do people take them off? Am i missing something?

cheers

Hi

What sort of flowers have you got in it?

So does it keep the revs up between changes, I found that annoying on cars that had them fitted.

a dashpot looks a little like the vacuum advance on the dissie- it has a little rod coming out of it that is damped, when you take your foot off the accelarator, it hits the damper & delays slightly the travel to idle speed, it is primarily an emission control

Please, I need drivers side window regulator (winder mechanism) for my '54 http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l266/Kombikim/avatar1.jpg

ah, i see too. was wondering as well. Grandpa was givin' me a tutoring session on those things on his 62' fairlane 500, apparently very rare for his car, hard to find spares. Was talking about how some people have it as a shocky kinda think or wateva directly on the pedal (from what i heard).

Goodluck though, hope u find one. There are more vee dubs than 62' fairlanes, so u shouldn't have that much of a trouble, i would imagine.

have got one... Ive adjusted it so revs drop to bout 1500 then slowly down to 900 (idle). Helps alot when shifting and if barely noticeable, any reasons why they are taken off??? still got no idea why...
