Commonsense
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his
birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in
out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial
policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged
with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch and a teacher fired for reprimanding an
unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even
further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer Panadol, sun lotion or a sticky plaster to a student but could not inform the
parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than
their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar can sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realise that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap,
and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust, his wife, Discretion, his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is
survived by three stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, Someone Else Is To
Blame and I'm A Victim. Not many attended his funeral because so few realised he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not join the
majority and do nothing.

What about the guy in the USA Bought a motor home put in on crusie control and went down the back to make a coffee, the van crashed, he sued the
makers for not telling him or having it in it hand book that it was not an auto pilot!
Not only did he get a new motor home he also got a huge payout.

How true.
It can all be blamed on psychiatry, psychology, sociology and political correctness.
I interpret "I have my rights." as "UP YOURS!"
"Someone else is to blame." as "It's my fault."
"I'm a victim." as "I'm a weakling."

There is an old saying, "there's nothing common about sense."
BTW Sten, you'll be relieved to know the church I work in is not a business.

back in 92 we had to recall all the blenders that Phillips made, and have the instruction booklets re written after a lady sued and won for loosing
two fingers after sticking her hand in the blender to help push the food down off the sides. the instruction booklet didnt advised whether she could
or couldnt.
of course we all know she didnt bother to refer to the instructions in the first place... that job was handed to her lawyer.

Some people are so damn stupid!!
I noticed when I worked in a shop, that more and more kids nowadays don't have any commonsense. Everything is done for them. I guess part of the
reason could be that as children they weren't allowed to play outside, to explore and learn things.
When my sister and I were growing up we didn't watch tv at all (well, except for Saturday morning cartoons :P). We were outside from morning until
night climbing trees and pretending they were spaceships, etc. We learned that if you climbed a tree and fell, it hurts and there is no-one to blame
but yourself. If we were running along a footpath and part of it was raised and we tripped, it was our own silly fault because we didn't look where
we were running.... none of this 'sueing a council because the corner of a footpath was cracked off'!!
I think people need to take responsibility for their actions, instead of pushing the blame.
That one about the guy with the motorhome cracked me up when I first heard about it. So stupid!!!!!!!

Yeah wrong forum but not far from the truth. The local storm water drain was the best billt cart track going. I still can't drive past it without a
tear coming to my eye.
|
I was lucky to not be introduced to that much tv. Along with my older brother. can't say much about my 2 younger ones though. My bro and i used to
play all the time in the storm water drains, when it was like a week later after rain, we would go there, and get mud/clay to block off the water
supply or divert it around an area of hte creek, then spend 3 hard hrs or so bucketing out the water away and when we got rid of the water to
something that was barely a puddle, we would catch the eels, yabbies and tadpoles. That was great fun. And this was done with a 4 and 6 yr old. Our methods worked so well.
We used to pay in the dirt, pretend we were secret agents running around, and so many other things. I could write u a life story on it, Lol.
But yeah, commonsense is quite dead. I see it in my 11 yr old bro. He was one to watch alot of tv, hardly socialise with other kids around the area,
hardly plays outside, and he doesn't take responsibility to for anything, even his own mistakes. U prove it is his mistake in some way, and he
pretends to not here u and go stroppo. Pisses me off.
Its interesting though, the people i have seen on the news that do friveless law suits are people from like 30 upways, and would have gotten less tv
and media exposure then us younger generations.

Why do you wake up in the morning?
What is the 'smell of napalm' ?
Why would you be a thorn in someones side?
Why do you ask questions? Actually scrap that one, you have answered that before many times.
What is a preconditioned comfort zone?
Why do you use :alien so often?
