how far can i narrow a front end of a 56 beetle without causing any probs, the front end will also have adjusters fitted , will be low but not
extremly low
gravity wont get you high

I have mine narrowed three inches.
I have no problem in any type of driving.
Sitting on 110 is not a problem.
I also have 145/65/15 tyres up front which prevents rubbing on the tyres on the guards.

ur yellow late beetle wil hav ball joint front beam unlike ovals link pin beam.
u can narrow balljoint more than link pin beams.
i think 2 inch is max on link pin if u want to keep ur shock towers asnd not modify the body

2 inches without having to modify towers or body, up to 4 if you modify the towers, but lots of work!

Mine's getting done this weekend, I'll put some pics up afterwards. I'm doing a link pin beam 2 inches and keeping the shock towers. They will be
modified of course, by slicing the backs off & plating them to get extra width.
I'm not doing the welding, a guy who builds towtruck trays / chassis is doing it on his workshops massive 3 phase mig

Try looking into the DKP site (don't know the address) or check out a few on Samba, they have some seriously narrowed link pin beams over there.
Theres a few here, but I can't rememebr their names (aside from vwtyp2's ride)

i have found an article in ultra vw on narrowing the front end of a beetle , it says you will get away with 1.5 inches on a link pin beam ,3.5 on a
ball joint beam with no mods to the body or loss of the shock towers. it also says you can plate the back of the shock tower for a 2 inch narrow link
pin beam or just cut off the shock tower if you want to go further narrow then weld a shock bracket on the body , will have to talk to the owner to
see what he wants to go for , i am not sure its worth the effort for 1.5 inches
that 4 inch beam looks sick , standing ovation on that one

Not trying to pour cold water on your ideas and each to their own, but, is it legal to do this, what if you were involved in an accident, would you be
covered ?.
I am not preaching I would honestly like to know ????
As I was under the impression that any modifications to suspension had to be approved and certified.

should be certified , even if you fit in a set of adjusters they should be certified

Dude go as narrow as you like as for leagality its up to you I've got a 4 1/2 inch with no shocks I had built two years ago if I had to show my car
for any reason I'de just put my standard front end back on it's not like its going to be a daily ride for me anyway:jesus
