indicator stalk/switch


i'm fitting a new indicator switch/headlight flasher to my 1970 1500 beetle....can anyone help with the wiring?
the original had 5 wires, the new one has 7 ?

black/white to L indicator lights
black/green to R indicator lights
black white/green to terminal S on indicator flasher can
brown to terminal 31 indicator flasher can
brown/white to terminal S on headlight high/low beam relay..i think

there are two grey wires (grey and grey/black trace) that i don't know what to do with.....

any help appreciated.

Are they for the Euro side parking lights which are activated with the ign switch in lock and the indicator lever in either left or right position? This is how the Type 3s worked so the bug may be the same. Does this indicator assy fit both Bugs and type 3s? Did bugs have some sort of side markers anywhere?

thanks 1500s...
that is what they most likely are...one wire is bridged across left and right..i gues i just ignore them...the assembly is probably made to cover a variety of models....for a price i might add ...is crap quality!

As I am not familiar with Bugs, it was a guess but that's what is used on all of the Type 3 range with the side parkers. Many of the OZ ones were converted to indicator repeater lights with amber lens in place of the red/clear.

Bet that 2 x 80kph airconditioning is working great at Wagga Wagga!!

yep...step outside into the fanforced oven..actually spent most of the day in the shed
now i have working indicators on the left, lift the lever to turn right and the fuse blows...bugger....its to hot for this!
