Is your dub your daily?

So how many people here drive their dubs as their daily car?

So often i get comments like "but how do you handle driving such a big van everywhere" or "doesnt it break down"... of course the answer to both of these is "easily" and "no actually... its never let me down yet"... unlike my 2001 hyundai (poo poooooopoooooo) which collapsed the battery twice, and my '99 commondore which died smack in the middle of Collins St. Gladly both of these cars are no longer dirtying my driveway.

So yeah... do you dub it every day?

Fleur drives one of her dubs either 75 bus or 71 beetle every single day.

One of the guys at her work asked if she had aircon. When he found out there was none, he said "That's what you get when you drive a s&!tbox"

She came back with. "At least I own my car, and it's worth more now than when it was new"

He owns a new Conformador S ute on finance, so he had no answer back. :)

i dirive mine daily.
i even drive it when the wifes forester is parked in the garage.

though my favourite thing is seeing the people that win "best daily driver" awards in cars that are clearly not daily drivers.
as far as i am concerned if it is only taken out on weekends when there are no rain clouds in sight, it is not a daily driver
If you did not drive it to the event and it came on a trailer, it is not a daily driver.
A daily driver has scratches and signs of ware and tare.
Not pristine and unmarked duco.

Lee.

It is even the car i take on holiday.

Unfortunatly due to the number of ill adjusted people we have in society and the fear of having my soft top slashed my cabrio is no longer a daily driver. I only drive her if I know that the end point will be a safe destination for parking (I don't drive her to work and shopping centres). The richer half does drive her to work when the weather is fine as he has secure parking.

My square does a 20km round trip every weekday, maybe that on weekends too(for a year and a half now) and never fails to get there.
Driven to Gosford a few times and Newcastle ,from Sydney without a hitch.

I can't bring myself to worry about the paint job (previous owners' wonderful coat
of..ahem..acrylic housepaint)
Think I'll check the oil and tyre pressures before tootling up to euro day for a looksee.

The great thing about driving a ratlooker, if you park in the wrong spot and your car gets scratched, or a bird shits on it, or it starts to rust, it only looks better. A car is for driving, it gets you to the place you want to be. It should not become a statue that never moves.

Up until not long ago, our Baja Bus was our only car, therefore was a daily driver, now I have two kombi's to choose from and the wife drives an air-con camry.
The Baja Bus has done over 100,000klms since we've owned it, and the only real dramas have been broken gearboxes, but it does run 31x10.5R15's on the rear and I flog the crap out of it......
