36 hp topspeed

Hi to all
Ive only ever owned post 67 beetles and am currently looking at purchasing a 56. i wondered if anyone could tell me what sort of cruising speed i should expect from the 36hp. Engine is supposed to be bog standard but in good running order and regularily serviced. current owner tells me the vehicle keeps up with traffic which i wouldnt have expected. if youve got the time or inclination my mobile no is 0417497655(i can call back to save $$$). name is Rob. Thanks.

According to the origional handbook Nov 1956 36hp engine the maximum and crusing speed is 110Klm or 68 mph

If your driving in Sydney Peak hour traffic then its an ideal speed.

I commute from Geelong to Melbourne in mine every other week, and it'll happily cruise at 100-105 kph, and give me 33 mpg.
This is a totaly stock, recently rebuilt engine.

Make sure not to go much harder though, the 36hp's crank is a bit whippy.

I usually drive mine at 50 mph sometimes I take it up to 60, its an old sound engine with good compression but its bloody hot up here so I try to take it easy.
