How to convert vinyl to digital??
How can i convert some of my vinly over to burn onyo a cd ...... easily??? :jesus
Got a few records that will never be produced as CD

Just put an old cd on top of the vinyl and use a piece of rod to center the cd's hole over the vinyl hole. Then trace around the outside of the CD
with a scribe and cut around the mark. The vinyl should then fit in your CD player.

Noooooooo!!! Don't do it....
There is a reason your vinyl hasn't been released on CD.
You can't let it fall into the hands of the digital age, keep it pure!!!
limewire will suck it up, hordes of festering vultures with swoop, leaving nothing behind...... 
grab some mates, some beer, some smoko, flip it onto your turntable, and enjoy it like it should be enjoyed...

you can do it, use nero, it has an application called Nero SoundTrax, I think from memory it has a feature that will remove scratched etc..
or if you want to do it with free software..
use Windows Sound Recorder to record the RAW WAV file - make sure you have plenty of hard drive space.
download CDEX .. go http://www.download.com/CDex/3000-2140-10226370.html
and use CDEX to compress the Raw WAV file to a manageable MP3 file.

Has anyone noticed lately, like in all the music stores around, in the last few months, alot of vinyl records seem to be appearing on shelves, like as
though its slowing coming back. and its of new age stuff, like todays music on vinyl. Saw it at JB hifi (Loganholme), and also at sunflower music
(pacific fair)

Well everything retro is back, it was only a matter of time before vinyls made a come back.
About a year ago my parents gave away all their old vinyls to my sisters friend.
I couldn't believe it! When I asked why I didn't get first dibs they said they didn't know I'd be interested... [sigh] Do you have to tell
everyone everything you might be interested in? I mean some on...

Yep, the Dick Smith one (Optimus..I think, also available through Tandy) is cheap, works well and under the rubber slipmat is a switch which changes
it's output from phono to line level (AT LAST!).
Select line level and use an rca to minijack plug to the audio in of the computer.
Use the 'sound recorder' application or whatever equivalent you like to record the vynil to mp3 or whatever.
It's works really well and you even get the nice vynil pops and crackles:thumb
If you've got a preamp you can use any turntable you like and take the line out to the pc.
Preamps are great if you want to also convert audio cassette to digital.
I've got an old Crown preamp and it's an awesome way to connect everything together!

I have a few yardbird / clapton etc bootlegs that i aint seen on CD
Also a heap of singles that have B sides that were not album released.
When i bought my house it came with an old radio-gramme thingy. One of those big muther thingies.
When i looked behind it it had about 100 singles stashed there in great nick.
Almost every Stones up to sticky fingers, yardbirds, procol harum, canned heat, the monkeys, lovin spoonful etc etc
Want to put all them on CD and listen to them

What a SCORE!
Those old 45's sound fantastic on big ole radiograms (after all a lot of them were mastered with valve sets in mind)..crank that gram right up if it
works..
Friend of mine's got a gigantic kreisler. It pumps out The Easybeats etc like nothing else can!

Sadly the gramme was cactus.
Found the singles when we mooved it out to the otto 
We were the 2nd owners of a 1910 house. We think it was when the grand kids came to visit granny they hid there records behind
Still - we give them a blast on the stereo every now and then.
Just wouldnt mind listening to them in the car
